Been inspired by another thread!

Anyone here named their DC after a character? Or was tempted to?

@ColinsVeryJolly

Ds1 middle name is Flynn, after Robb!

ColinsVeryJolly · 17/09/2018 14:53

@dustarr73

I have a Logan who is not named after bloody Wolverine.

He was named after the guitarist of a band we both liked

Its Bros isnt it

😂 no! Logan Mader from Machinehead

lynmilne65 · 17/09/2018 14:37

Please not Joffrey

KarrisWhiteOak · 17/09/2018 14:28

My DDs middle name is from the Jilly Cooper books, Tabitha, but I wasn’t allowed Lysander for my son.
I’ve never told DP that’s where that name came from. He doesn’t read 🙄

mummabubs · 17/09/2018 14:20

Lovely to see other babies with Tolkien names too @BillywilliamV and @NorthernLurker 😊

mummabubs · 17/09/2018 14:19

Our DS has a fairly obscure name that appears in Tolkien novels, but is also a legitimate name in Scandinavian countries. Neither me or DH are Scandinavian at all but we fell in love with the name and decided that we didn't really care what other people's views were going to be re: the name, as long as DS is happy in himself with it as he grows older then we're happy!

CactusFred · 17/09/2018 14:18

My DS middle name is a character. 😃

BillywigSting · 17/09/2018 14:17

I also know a mccleod family who had a son called Connor.

The mum didn't realise who her son was named after until she saw the highlander years later and nearly knocked the dad's block off when she cottoned on.

BillywigSting · 17/09/2018 14:11

Ds's middle name is after a Harry Potter character (though dp thinks it's after his grandad)

There is a girl in my ds's class named after a dc villain.
She actually really suits it (though is nothing like the nutter she is named after)

mrscee · 17/09/2018 14:09

My son Dexter is named after the serial killer. We watched it whilst I was pregnant and then when he and his twin sister arrived 9 weeks early before we'd decided on a boys name. My husband just mentioned the name and I loved it.

YouBetterWORK · 17/09/2018 14:08

I had lots of 'you calling her Leia then' (I'm a Star Wars fan). We liked the sound of her name (not Leia) but it doesn't hurt it's the same name of a gun wielding female explorer video game character that I'm a fan of (playing the latest game at the moment!)

His actual name is James Howlett. Logan is just an alias. (I’ve read the comics)

Haha fair enough... I couldn't have been more wrong! Only see a few of the films...

Ohyesiam · 17/09/2018 13:54

I’m named after a character In Sense and Sensibility. This makes me very happy.

TheHalfBloodPrincess · 17/09/2018 13:52

Wolverines name is James Logan. My son is Logan

Wolverines name is James Logan. My son is Logan James.

I did not know his name was James! Always thought it was Logan.. Every day is a school day 😂

screwthepyramids · 17/09/2018 12:18

@TinyRick no Leliana but I changed it to suit her dad as he wasn't too impressed haha so she's a Lilianne instead. My other choice was morrigan and varric was my boys name choice

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/09/2018 12:02

Yes

Ds1 is named after a character in the film Catholic Boys

And dd after a character in the tv series Angel

Technically ds2 is named after a character in Buffy...but his is quite a well known/common name

Highpeak · 17/09/2018 12:00

DD has a Shakespearean name, I'm not a particular fan of the play though.

MichelleGarvey · 17/09/2018 10:55

My birth name was Tessie after the Enid Blyton character. That's what happens when you tell a grade one student that she can name her new baby sister...

mrsnec · 17/09/2018 09:47

Yes. Ds is named after a tv doctor. Well we got the inspiration from there and I looked it up and it met our criteria.

HPLikecraft · 17/09/2018 09:30

I named my dog Tyrion, after the GOT character!

HPLikecraft · 17/09/2018 09:29

It’s not like the names from Harry Potter, LOTR or most other book series in that they’re classic or folk names. It’s just a made up word

So was Wendy, invented by JM Barrie. It lasted a while! Grin

But the ridiculous thing about Khaleesi is that it isn't even anyone's name, it's a title; for the wife of the Khal.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 17/09/2018 08:41

Three kids shamelessly named after Harry Potter characters.
My husband has no idea.

Haha I love it!

I told my husband that if we have daughters I will name them after famous feminists and then only tell him once they've been registered.

Theweasleytwins · 17/09/2018 08:09

If i had my way id have a Sabriel, a Lirael and a Sameth but dh is too boring for that so just harry potter names which he is okay with

Ive actually met one of the Khalessi- in an a and e room. Wasnt sure that was her name but her dad had it tattooed quite large on his arm so that was definitly her name
