Been inspired by another thread!

Anyone here named their DC after a character? Or was tempted to?

Yep. DS is named after a character from a late 80s cult classic and a character from Batman. Whilst he isn't named because of them, they are where we heard the names and liked them.

I'm named after a film character. A 60s film. I think a lot of people are named after her. My best friend at school was also named from the same film but a different character.

Jessewaltskylar · 21/09/2018 14:41

@mrscee Love this- I had Dexter on my list when pregnant with my first DC but DH didn't like it Hmm

AndSoSallyStillWaits · 18/09/2018 23:23

@Moominfan Brilliant! That works so well for a cat.

Moominfan · 18/09/2018 17:42

DeadButDelicious · 18/09/2018 17:16

I really wanted to name DD Wednesday. DH vetoed it quite strongly.

Misery guts that he is. Grin

AdorableMisfit · 18/09/2018 17:12

My daughter is named after Ellen Ripley of the Alien films.

BunchOfBobs · 18/09/2018 17:08

Yes, DS is Atticus.

Starwednesday · 18/09/2018 15:59

My daughters named after a character from home and away

Fuei · 18/09/2018 15:49

I didn't name my son after it specifically, but the good feelings I had about a character with the same name in a much loved children's classic was a strong positive when deciding on it

Bullnoway · 18/09/2018 00:24

Someone I follow on insta just launched a website listing children's books by character's name. Mynameismatilda.com

I think they take nominations for books to include, and also definitely kids drawings of their favourite characters. Very sweet. Profits to charity I think too.

YerAuntFanny · 18/09/2018 00:23

My friend has an Arwen.

She's named after her Welsh Grandmother.

Tolkien made up a meaning, not the name!

Kraggle · 18/09/2018 00:20

boys name fat fingers!

cactusplant · 18/09/2018 00:18

We have a baby chandler in work

Kraggle · 18/09/2018 00:18

My two cats are called Willow and Fry from Buffy and Futurama. Dh thought Fry would be a good bits bame also.

Thankfully we had girls! Both their names are TV characters, one from Friends, one Greys Anatomy coincidentally but they’re not named after them iykwim.

ektomarie · 18/09/2018 00:09

I had Elsa as my top baby girl name, but DH hated it. Two years later, Frozen came out Grin

MrsAdams98 · 17/09/2018 23:49

My DS was always going to be a Sam (it’s something my other half promised his best Sam friend when they young) But then a couple of weeks before he was born we were watching GOT and we decided to make it interesting and use a characters name from their :)

BexusSugarush · 17/09/2018 19:26

My dd is named after a quite unknown book character, Ayla. The next will be an obscure literary name too!

Skyejuly · 17/09/2018 18:44

Yes all of mine are.

Loyaultemelie · 17/09/2018 18:42

No but I'm named after a historical woman who inspired my mother. My dd2s name turns out to be the name of a character in an action film which I didn't know 🤷‍♀️

ApollO88 · 17/09/2018 17:09

I had a cat called Apollo after the star constellation.
I wanted to call my son Orion.... DH vetoed it bit agreed on Ryan as a substitute.
DS is 7 and accident prone so I kind of got my way..... I utter "Oh! Ryan!" A lot!
