Doesn’t everyone just think “Hitler’s biggest fan” when they hear it?

DemocracyDiesInDarkness · 13/09/2018 13:54

Yep, Hitler/Mosley straight away for me.

AsleepAllDay · 13/09/2018 13:53

Yup! Unity Mitford springs to mind

LightDrizzle · 13/09/2018 13:53

Yup. Hitler groupie and wife of Oswald Mosley. Not great associations.

TheWinterofOurDiscountTentsMk2 · 13/09/2018 13:49

No. It's not the 1930's, why would you?

halcyondays · 13/09/2018 13:45

No, I thought Unity Logan.

neffall · 13/09/2018 13:41

Unity Mitford was madly in love with Hitler and she shot herself over her unrequited love. There are rumours she had his child. Allegedly. IIRC.

Cosmoa · 13/09/2018 10:48

Don't get the Hitler connection but I think it's an awful name..

TheDowagerCuntess · 13/09/2018 02:22

Yes, Mitford nutter straight away for me.

Even without that association, I don't think it's one of the nicer 'virtue' names. But maybe I only think that because I associate it so strongly with yer one... 🤔

Elllicam · 13/09/2018 01:42

I thought of Unity Logan from the Antonia Forrest books which is also not a great association.

passwordfailure · 13/09/2018 01:40

I got Mitford but forgot about Hitler. Not a nice sound anyway.

NameChangedNow · 13/09/2018 01:34

I would assume it was an African child and Hitler connection would not cross my mind.

moredoll · 13/09/2018 01:09

Yep, Mitford straight away.

BareBum · 12/09/2018 23:21

*thought

BareBum · 12/09/2018 23:20

First though was Hitler.

AgathaRaisinDetra · 12/09/2018 22:43

I would

Lucy1103 · 12/09/2018 21:47

Wouldn’t be my first thought, but not a fan of the name although I don’t like virtue-style names in general

FogCutter · 12/09/2018 21:42

No the Hitler connection would not be my first thought even though I am aware of the Mitford connection.

I think it's a lovely name.

TheVanguardSix · 12/09/2018 21:30

I thought of the Mitfords for a nanosecond. But honestly, if I met a Unity in year 2, I wouldn’t think ‘Hitler!’. Not at all.

ammq · 12/09/2018 21:27

I didn't make that association, not sure about the name either way though

Janleverton · 12/09/2018 21:15

I do. But I’m not sure how many people would know about the Mitfords to make the connection. I like the name regardless actually, despite the history.

TeaAndNoSympathy · 12/09/2018 21:15

Yep.
