Are they too similar?

I'm having a girl!

I want to called her Elsie Mae, I love Elsie as it's an oldish name but suits a little one and Mae is my sisters and my boyfriends grandmothers name.

However my boyfriends niece is called Kelsey - Mae, I feel like they are too similar especially as K-M is currently the youngest.

Any help? Are they too similar?

It would be like calling your daughter Sarah Louise in 1985 when her cousin is called Tara Louise.

I agree they are very similar sounding names and should you see Kelsey often it could get confusing. I would find another first name, keep Mae due to the family connections. Maybe you could use Elsie if you have another daughter when the age difference is not as noticeable and she wont have the same middle name.

What about Eliza Mae? Similar to your choice but more different from your niece.

I think they're too similar and so so common that you'll regret giving her such an unoriginal name.
