Mickey as a nickname for a girl

What do you think?

Is it cute? Or a bit daft?

Any other ideas for a short name beginning with M? We’ve chosen Morvern which doesn’t lend itself to shortenings. It would be nice to have a cute name that we could call her by as well as her full name.

I like Mickey. I don't think a nn has to sound like the given name.

Nicknames usually come randomly and don’t need to be predetermined. Choose a name you actually like instead of searching for a variation to use instead

Morvern - the shortening I've heard is Verne.

Mo, Morve, Morvie, Minnie, Vivi, Vernie, are all nicer and make more sense as nicknames for Morvern than Mickey, in my opinon.

I don’t like it much and the spelling is clunky. That said, my opinion means nothing if you like the name.

Is it Morven or Morvern ...? Morven is much nicer imo

Mickey is not nice for a girl. I wouldn't try to come up with a nn to be fair , surely it should develop on its own

I've heard of Mickey/Mickie/Mikki(!) short for Michaela, but it's a bit dated now.

The only Mickey I have known was a girl. A very nice girl.

Never been called a man or genitals or a mouse, although obviously mickey can be any of those things as well

I have never come across a little girl called Mickey but I did know a woman called Michelle who was always known as Mickey. Simply because of my memory of her I would say it was a lovely name.

People will assume she's male because of Mickey Mouse and Mick Jagger and other men called Mick.

The phrases "taking the mickey" and "mickey mouse" would put me off.

Jaysus in this English speaking country, a mickey is a penis. Well known slang here. Bit different to moo moo or ickle preshus.

It's a nickname @Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar, imho Moo-Moo is a perfectly fine family nickname/pet name. Unless you are thinking a nickname is for external usage, which as I pointed out would make a childish one less suitable. OK? Calm down. Sheesh.

I knew a girl called mickey at secondary. It was short for Michaela. Sounds fine to me

It's fine as a nickname! Morven is lovely.

Mickey is no different to Teddy, Evie or any of the other current cutesy nicknames.

My late-aunt was Mickey, for Michaela. I love it, both long and short.

Morvern is an interesting name, I like it. Mickey’s not a ‘natural’ nn, but she’s your daughter, you can nickname her what you like!

My friend has a Megan, but she’s only known as Mo. That’s how she introduces hersel. Not much difference in the comparison.

So long as you would be happy to shorten a boy’s name like Samuel to Susie. Or Barnaby to Betty.
