Pronouncing Aaron

I’m in the UK, in the suburban South, for reference.

How would you pronounce Aaron? Is it AH-run, or AIR-run?

I’m not bias in either direction, just interested to know. I like the name.

I'm laughing at the people insisting that there's only one pronunciation. Esme, Helena, Niamh, Alicia...many names have multiple pronunciations.

I think Aaron is a hebrew name pronounced Airun, so if referring to Moses's brother it is definitely Air-on but otherwise I think it depends on preference, I think the Scottish Ahrun ( Aaron ) is a derivative of the isle of Arran like other Scottish islands that have become common names Lewis Harris Isla Iona Skye etc

Out of interest, how do Air-un pronouncers of Aaron say Erin, which I would say as Air-un?

it's not regional, it's about two different names.
The correct pron of Aaron is Air-un
Arran is a different name.
However in the last few years, people have got confused and mixed up the two.
I knew an Aaron Aaronson in North London, guess what religion his mum was and how he said the name? Yes the correct way.

My brother's name is Aaron, and we pronounce it "Air-run" (as would rhyme with Karen, Darren).

They rhyme but not in the way you mean at all for me - kah ren, dah ren!

I know people who pronounce it AH-run and some who pronounce it AIR-un.
I prefer AIR-un but you could pronounce it either way!

It's an anglicised version of a Hebrew name. That will be where the double a comes from.

And there is no logic to spelling/pronunciation in English and it's pointless to search for it!

My brother's name is Aaron, and we pronounce it "Air-run" (as would rhyme with Karen, Darren). We're American, BTW, and in the US that is the most common pronunciation.

No, it’s fine as it is with the correct spelling. If you want ah-ren spell it
Ahren , if you want it Arron spell it Arron. Where will you stop?

It’s an ambiguous name like Helen-a/Helayna etc. No need to change the spelling, just for people to learn who uses which pronunciation. It’s not difficult really.
