Name shortlist - opinions please!

Here is a list of current favourite names we're considering for our firstborn due later this year. I'm not discussing them with family other than DP, so would love your honest opinions!

I like Morris and Jane as first names. Refreshingly non-frilly and not twee.
Barnaby and Emerald as middle names.

I like Jane, Vera, Joy and Olive (though prefer Olivine, and Jane Olivine might work better for a gemstone middle name I think than Jane Emerald).

I agree that Milo Henry over Mylo is my favourite out of your boys names list.

Madeline and Aubrey are my favourites. I like Valentina very much too. And Vera is pretty cool.

Madeline Joy- like Madeline but not Joy
Audrey Jane- Audrey is very old ladyish
Jane Valentina- nice! But will get 'plain Jane
Melita Olive- no no no
Jane Emerald- ok
Vera Joy- like Vera but not Joy

Barnaby Cole- not keen but isn't bad!
Romeo Wynn- Romeo is nice but not Wynn
Mylo Henry- love Henry but not Mylo
Aubrey Cartier- no no no no no
Morris Aubrey- horrendous

Mylo Henry is the nicest of your boys names, but why spell it Mylo? Milo is fine. Miles even better, with the nickname Milo.

Madeline Joy is lovely ! The others are a bit too old fashioned for my liking.

Not overly keen on any of the boys names tbh. Aubrey is a girls name to me ! Of all the first names listed I think Mylo (although prefer Myles).

I really like Madeleine Joy, I also much prefer the proper French spelling.

Jane & Vera, not so much.

Barnaby Cole is great, he will probably be known as Barney when he starts school.

Perhaps Maurice would be a preferred spelling to Morris?

Romeo is a bit footballer.

Nice names! I like Vera Joy and Jane Emerald best. Audrey Jane is nice too. Not keen on Madeline as I don’t like Maddie.

From your boys list I like Morris Aubrey. I like Aubrey as a first name too but don’t like Cartier. Aubrey Morris would be better.

I'm quite surprised at how controversial Jane is - I thought everyone would say it was too plain, but seems like some of you love it too 😊

I would use Valentina for a first name. Jane is too plain. I prefer the Madeleine spelling and it's nice with Joy. The others aren't my taste at all. Vera is absolutely dreadful as is Melita.

Barnaby is quite nice.
