What's your honest opinion on the name Zelda ?

I'm a gamer but that's not the reason I like the name Zelda. I just like how it sounds so at first I didn't think of the games but I don't know if it would sound silly in the long run to name a child Zelda just because of the video game relation hmm...

Really like the sound of Zelda Rose or Zelda Grace. What do you think?

Do you know a Zelda? Would you find it funny a gamer naming their child Zelda and do you think Zelda sounds ok for an adult name?

I know a little girl called Zelda, she gets no comments about it being anything other than nice nams

TBH I don't like it, it sounds harsh. It also makes me think of Griselda which is like grizzling and gristle. Zelda would suit a rip-off fake fortune teller.

My mother is called Zelda, she's 60 - my grandparents were definitely not gamers. She had an 'auntie Zelda' who was my grandmothers friend. She doesn't have a MN as my grandmother felt 'Zelda was enough' 😂.

She loves her name and has only ever had positive reactions to it. I think it's a great name too.

''so you'll have a really lush, *original name''

I think it’s lovely! I would automatically think of the game but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Robin Williams named his daughter Zelda after the game! I don’t know anyone else with the name (though I’m sure there’s many, especially in America) so you’ll have a really lush, original name.

I love it, I liked this for my dd 16 years ago when I was pregnant. People said something to me about the game but I'd never heard of it. My friend's mum is called Zelda and she doesn't get comments about the game as far as I know. I have a feeling names ending in da are going to come back in to fashion soon. A lot of the names are so soft and end in elle, ella, lia. I can imagine Belinda and Rhoda and Zelda soon.

I love the name, my cat is called Zelda because DP vetoed it for a baby. Grin

We’re both fans of the games though, as are his brothers, and he just saw the poor kid being referred to as ‘Princess Zelda’ as a joke which he wasn’t into.

I love it. I know a Zelda in her 30s and she's lovely. My DS would have been Zelda if he was a girl.

HappyEverIftar · 28/08/2018 06:26

I have a friend called Zelda and she's kick-ass! She has a great attitude and is a pocket rocket of energy. She is my age (mid 30s) so probably named before the game took off?? I don't know. We're a multi cultural bunch (I live on a compound in the ME) so very used to hearing all sorts of names.

Makes me think of one of the aunts from Sabrina The Teenage Witch. Not an awful association I suppose...

Armchairanarchist · 28/08/2018 06:23

Zelda, the Terrahawk immediately springs to mind but I'm a probably a bit older.

gigi556 · 28/08/2018 06:21

Love it!

Sessy19 · 28/08/2018 06:08

I think it’s a really pretty name. I wouldn’t automatically assume that you are gamers because of the name, although I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard it on a real person! 😬

I don’t think it sounds silly, and I can visualise the name working from baby to adult...

It’s no less appealing than Lara, or Mario...it’s a really nice name!
