Why are baby boy names so much harder?!?

I really like uncommon (not unusual!) names

Can anyone offer any ideas I feel like I'm really struggling 😩

So far I like Wilf and Evan 💙💙

We know an Alben who gets called Albie for short.

Timpani · 27/08/2018 08:33

I like Phineas. And that was before I realised the name of the lead in the greatest showman. It's been on my list for years!

@eatmycheese, think I love Florian but not sure we could get away with a 'Florian' 😕

David, Michael, Adam, John, Anthony?

Most likely would be the only one in the infant school.

SentToTheSynByn · 27/08/2018 08:30

Euclid.

Milkmonster2 · 27/08/2018 08:26

We have Wilfred Smile
We tend to call him Wilfred at the moment. Occasionally Wilf or Fred. Love both NN possibilities.

What about Walter?

minnierose3 · 27/08/2018 08:20

@MinisterforCheekyFuckery @Galvantula ahh thanks I like Evan and think I'm warming to it even more all the time.

I personally don't like Eban which has been suggested it's too out there for me personally but a (not close) friend has named her DS that do you think it's a bit too close?

My youngest childs name was just branded awful Sad

minnierose3 · 27/08/2018 08:18

@SumAndSubstance yes I saw Thatcher I think My mum would have a heart attack if I named a baby that!

Lots of the ones that I quite like Jude, bobby, Xavier are taken by friends

Also like Kit it's quite quirky but wouldn't go with our surname

Jay is cute but there are way too many Jays already in our family!!

Oo I like Murray. Only ruled out because I knew another little one.

Also Fraser.

I've met a Muir too.

donkeysandzebras · 26/08/2018 23:12

DS has a name from you list of 70s classics above. The only people at school with the same name as him are dads doing the school run! I still like it as everyone knows it and knows how to spell it yet he doesn't have to be known by first name and initial as he is the only one with that name. There are several supposedly unusual names at his school where there is more than one with the name and I have heard the odd parent moan about how they picked it as they wanted an individual name.
