We've so far got it narrowed down to either Keziah or Ada for a girl but we're struggling more for boys.

Our shortlist for a boys is:

  • Micah
  • Enoch
  • Eliah
  • Eden
  • Abdi
  • Isaiah

@PizzanCat I'm in Dundee... most of the population talk in the dialect. I do like Micah though

kenandbarbie · 27/08/2018 16:33

Much prefer ada to your other choice, not at all similar to existing name

kenandbarbie · 27/08/2018 16:32

Micah no

  • Enoch yes
  • Eliah yes
  • Eden no girls?
  • Abdi no
  • Isaiah I like this best
badger246 · 27/08/2018 16:22

I really love the name Malik I know it's not on your list lol

PizzanCat · 27/08/2018 15:34

I live in Scotland so I know what you mean Bluebell but I pronounce Abdi like 'Ahbdee' and that would be 'aebudee/aebuday'.
(I also don't think I know anybody that speaks like that below the age of like 60 Shock)

We'd pronounce Keziah like 'kezeeuh'

I'm not too bothered about it sounding similar to Abel and Tamar but there's going to be less than a year between new baby and Dinah so I suspected it might get annoying for them when they are older if there names are too matchy.

Don't use Abdi (Abdy) if you are coming to Scotland. It means everybody. You don't want to be visiting and shouting "Abdi", everyone will stop and turn thinking you're calling on them. I like Keziah for a girl although I don't think Ada is too similar to Dinah if that's your favourite. I know three girls called Eden and always think of it as a girls name.

charitypringle · 27/08/2018 13:17

And I love Ada so much. Keziah not so much. I like the Kez-ee-uh pronounciation but I know more people who use the Keh-Zye-Uh instead.

charitypringle · 27/08/2018 13:15

Love Micah, Isaiah is a close second.

TallSlutNoPantiesthe2nd · 27/08/2018 11:31

Any of them - apart from Enoch!

Sessy19 · 27/08/2018 04:46

I know a Keziah....she’s an absolute MONSTER. The name makes shivers run down my spine.

For boys, I love Micah-I know a Micah who is a total darling.

I’ve always found the Elijah/Isaiah/Enoch fad with names a bit much...I liken it in my head to calling a child God....but that’s a very singular opinion!! And the voice of my Jesuit grandfather bleating on my ear!! 😂😂😂

Sophronia · 26/08/2018 23:35

Keziah and Enoch

JustlikeDevon · 26/08/2018 22:51

Keziah and micah. Taught many abdis but they have all been Somali!

Galvantula · 26/08/2018 22:40

I love Micah. :)

Picknickers · 26/08/2018 22:39

Daft question...Do you pronounce Keziah KEZ e ah or KeZeye a?

Xiaoxiong · 26/08/2018 20:12

I like Abdi but agree it's too similar to Abel. Out of the others Micah is my favourite but similar to Dinah.

Others that pop into my head:
Asher
Ever
Dov
Nathan
Phineas
Saul

CaMePlaitPas · 26/08/2018 20:05

Abdi is lovely! I've never heard of that name before but I think it's unique-ness makes it even more beautiful. Love it.

CheeseTheDay · 26/08/2018 20:00

Oh I love, love Abdi. Love it.

Of the girl names, I love both equally. In regards to Ada though, as all the other names are Biblical, then Adah would be the correct spelling would it not? Ada has totally different origins to Adah.

girlalmighty · 26/08/2018 19:43

Eden is a boys name to me. I love it. Was on my list.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/08/2018 19:37

Micah or Keziah.

RavenWings · 26/08/2018 19:13

Definitely Micah. I think Keziah is much nicer than Ada. Ada blends into the horde of Eva/Ava etc names, and your other children's names are great. Just unusual enough but not weird at all.

Abel and Abdi are too alike imo.

PizzanCat · 26/08/2018 19:10

Eden, Micah and Abdi are my favourites for a boy but I'm quite a fan of melodramatic doom myself so 7years has definitely warmed me to Isaiah Grin

Ada is my fav for a girl but I'm worried it's a bit too similar to Dinah

OP posts:
MrsMolehillMountain · 26/08/2018 17:46

Isiah is nice! And Keziah

JoanFrenulum · 26/08/2018 17:32

All the Edens I know are girls. What about Joshua?

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 26/08/2018 17:32

Seth
Reuben

PippilottaLongstocking · 26/08/2018 17:30

Micah and Isaiah are my favourites
