How many baby Asher's do you know?

Baby boy is due in a few weeks and after really struggling to find a name DH and I both like we thought we were finally settled on Asher (middle name will be Jack) but we've now found out Asher was apparently the most popular boys name of 2017 Confused

We had no idea the name had become so popular. DH thinks we should use it anyway but I was one of five girls in my class at school with the same name and hated it so I'm having a wobble.

So what do you think? Is it too popular? Should we go back to the drawing board?

I used to work in a nursery with two Hindu little boys called Asher.

Yes, 288th last year. Can't see it making no. 1 somehow.

None.

I'd be really surprised if it's most popular name of 2017, it was number 288 in 2016 and I believe 2017 stats are realised in a few weeks.

None - could that be an American article you’ve read?

Only one and he’s 6. Gorgeous name. I don’t think it will be that popular.

From where do you get your stats? Has the ONS baby list been published?

None and I work with children. There was an Asher I met last year but he was 6 years old and I remember thinking how unique his name was. I love it.
