What are your thoughts on the name Finch for a boy?

American Pie again.....

BreconBeBuggered · 09/09/2018 22:59

No.

MrBull · 09/09/2018 22:59

Very American sounding

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 09/09/2018 22:58

Ew

Lindy2 · 09/09/2018 22:57

A finch is a small bird. I've never heard it used as a human name.
Sorry, I'm not at all keen.

notangelinajolie · 09/09/2018 22:53

Is it even a name? Sound like some kind of twitchy, itchy disease.

Secretsquirrel101 · 09/09/2018 22:52

American Pie
Awful name, sorry!

AlliKaneErikson · 09/09/2018 22:50

Another American Pie here, sorry.

FastWindow · 09/09/2018 02:05

Yet another name that will make primary school teachers cry.

IvyandStan · 09/09/2018 02:01

American pie

SpoonBlender · 09/09/2018 01:42

Low-level East end gangster. Nah.

SemperIdem · 09/09/2018 01:31

Are you too young to know the American Pie reference?

Shadow1234 · 09/09/2018 01:30

Another no, no, a sorry. Too much like a bird.

Sophronia · 24/08/2018 22:59

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 24/08/2018 22:07

Abs99 · 24/08/2018 20:57

American pie springs to mind 😂

SoftSheen · 24/08/2018 20:51

Small, twittery and fluttery...

PassportBridgetPants · 24/08/2018 20:36

I considered it myself but DH just thought of Finch from The Office, who was awful.

ZeroFuchsiasGiven · 24/08/2018 20:26

It makes me think of To Kill a Mockingbird, which is a good association, but Atticus is a much better name if that's the link you're after. Alternatively, Charles Darwin was a world expert on finches. It was studying finches that led him to formulate the theory of evolution, I believe. Darwin would be a good name.

daisypond · 24/08/2018 20:25

I rather like it. It's a name that shouts To Kill A Mockingbird to me - like Atticus, Jem, etc. It's the surname of the family. The smallness of the bird might put me off for a boy, though.

Hippopotas · 24/08/2018 20:25

Sounds like a guy who would shank you in prison

sexnotgender · 24/08/2018 20:24

Dreadful Confused

FourAlarmFire · 24/08/2018 20:23

I like it but it makes me think of Finch in Person of Interest.
