It’s nearly that time again; the 2017 ONS baby name data for England and Wales will be published in the next few weeks. Chime in here with your predictions for the biggest risers and fallers.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ThanksItHasPockets · 18/09/2018 22:48

I think surnamey boys’ names will continue to rise. I have heard of a lot of Harrisons and Jacksons lately.

deptfordgirl · 26/08/2018 17:35

Oh and yes to Freya maybe top 10? And Matilda rising higher.

deptfordgirl · 26/08/2018 17:34

Ezra risen higher and Otis entering top 100 (I've met a few this year). Eden for a girl higher and old testament names still doing well for boys.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 26/08/2018 15:00

Sylvie, Margot and Thea for girls.
Arlo, Ezra and Theo for boys.

Maireadd · 25/08/2018 22:49

Another one: Sylvie. I’m seeing and hearing it considered a lot at the moment.

blinkineckmum · 25/08/2018 03:08

Louis? I hear it a lot. Ahead of the prince of course.
Also Theo, Clara, Freya

starkid · 24/08/2018 17:08

I'm predicting Jessica to leave the top ten

Crunchymum · 24/08/2018 16:52

My son has a top 10 name.

DD1 was outside top 100 when we named her but has risen year on year. I expect it to rise again this year.

DD2 was born this year and her name is currently outside of top 100 but I expect it will have risen when the next ONS report is out

Elephantgrey · 24/08/2018 16:38

Evelyn and Ada are going to be big as is Ted. I agree with people saying Ezra and Florence. Freya is quite popular too.

Kate123cl · 24/08/2018 16:31

I think Alfie and Freddie will be quite high up

Itsear · 24/08/2018 16:20

Agree that Florence is very ‘now’. I will be interested to see where the name Corbyn is, having met a couple recently!!! I think Oliver will still be number 1, I seem to have met several thousand but still don’t understand why it is so popular.

Cbeebiesrehab · 24/08/2018 16:05

Totally forgot about Florence. In 2017 when I attended baby groups it was easily the most popular girls name in our area.

MrsReader · 24/08/2018 15:21

If MN is anything to go by:

Ottilie, Norah, Margot, Romily, Thea, and Stella will all be high climbers!

VeraSwampDuck · 24/08/2018 15:00

Agree with VIOLET and LEO. I think CLARA too, at least where I am in Northern Ireland. Clara, Cora, Cara

DappledThings · 24/08/2018 14:56

Clementine will be a big riser.

DD will be counted in this one. I think she might have just dropped out of top 100.

Flowerqueensw · 24/08/2018 14:53

I’m due in one week, I wish it was coming out a couple of weeks earlier!

Leo will be very high I think.

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/08/2018 12:52

Also think Violet may have risen quite rapidly

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/08/2018 12:51

I'm just hoping Ezra hasn't risen too much

Think Henry may have jumped a few more places

Kate123cl · 24/08/2018 11:45

Following as I'll be picking a baby name soon and will try and avoid the new popular names Smile

MorrisDancingViv · 24/08/2018 11:31

I don't think the top 10 in e&w will vary much, perhaps a few names swapping places.

I think Arlo will have significantly risen again along with Beatrice and Iris.

Alexander, Toby, Sophia and Isla are very very popular where I live but I think they all went down slightly last year.

Maireadd · 24/08/2018 09:40

Freddie, Fred and Frederick too.

Maireadd · 24/08/2018 09:40

I was going to say Margot too!

PassportBridgetPants · 24/08/2018 09:11

I think Margot will have had a huge leap.

2totwo · 24/08/2018 08:19

4 weeks exactly until it's out!

Cbeebiesrehab · 24/08/2018 08:10

Oh and Logan!! They are everywhere here
