4 days old and nameless!

My daughter is four days old and we still haven’t decided on a name. We have a few options, just not a favourite!

My husband’s favourite is Erin. How popular is this? I didn’t think it was, I’ve only known of one who would be in her 20s now. Since looking on here though it seems to get mentioned a lot.
He also likes Eliza. I like both of these and would happily call her either.

I like Alice and Nancy. Husband isn’t as keen on these but doesn’t mind them and would be happy with either.

I like them all and don’t have a favourite. I think if I had to choose one though I’d go with Nancy but only because I think it’s the most different but I could be wrong about that.

Family or friends say their favourite and that sort of sways me but then someone else will say something different so then I change my mind again. I’m hoping the opinions of mumsnet will help.

Also, we already have a Phoebe.

Thank you

By the way if you want to find out popularity and trends have a look at this website- names.darkgreener.com/

Congratulations as well!

Phoebe goes best with Erin or Alice. I don't think it goes with Nancy at all (if that is your concern).

NonJeNeRegretteRien · 24/08/2018 03:47

What do you think suits her most?

Maybe it’s a name not on your list...

(For the record I like Erin the most out of your shortlist)

Eliza is lovely.

Erin is dull as dishwater.

starkid · 23/08/2018 14:04

Phoebe and Erin sound good together.

Actually they all sound good with Phoebe.

Difficult! They're all lovely names (I'm not being even slightly helpful but thought would say so anyway)

Congratulations!

I think Nancy is the least suited with Phoebe. I think Erin or Alice go well. Congratulations!

Horrordoeurvres · 22/08/2018 18:29

My name is Erin - means emerald isles. I'm in my early 20s and have only ever met 2 other Erins!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/08/2018 18:27

Sorry don't like Erin.
💕 Nancy.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 22/08/2018 13:57

Not keen on Erin.
Phoebe and Alice or Nancy goes nicely.

What about Felicity, Thea or Eleanor?

Stringofpearls · 22/08/2018 13:30

Eliza is very pretty, classic but unusual at the same time.

Sophronia · 22/08/2018 04:19

Eliza or Alice. Don’t like Erin.

Pressuredrip · 22/08/2018 01:16

And take your time. My first two were named before or on day one, but my third took a week. I loved too many. I know lots of people that have taken two weeks to decide.

This is exactly the tool you need:

None of the 4. You don’t love them. There’s really no hurry and she’ll have it for life (unless it’s so awful she changes it by deed poll on her 18th), so take your time to find something you both love.

In the meantime, Gertie is cute 💕

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 22/08/2018 01:09

Phoebe and Gertrude! Love it.

Gertie is a cute nn- makes me think of ET. Smile

piggie88 · 22/08/2018 01:01

We definitely will not be calling her Gertie.
We have got some middle name options which are names we like but can’t use as a first name for various reasons but I do like all of those suggestions too.

paintedwingsandgiantrings · 21/08/2018 23:02

Have you got a middle name? If not how about:

Alice Eliza

Eliza Erin (I don't always like alliteration in name but these two run together well IMO)

Erin Eliza

Eliza Nancy

DramaAlpaca · 21/08/2018 22:58

Alice or Eliza go best with Phoebe.

I dislike Nancy, but it's not as bad as Gertie. Don't do that to her!

TatianaLarina · 21/08/2018 22:55

Love Nancy.

Phoebe and Nancy is brilliant. They’re girls I’d want to be friends with.

AnnieTheAlpaca · 21/08/2018 22:52

Alice is a wet name.

Erin is lovely.

kenandbarbie · 21/08/2018 22:43

Why not stick with Gertie? That's a great name!

piggie88 · 21/08/2018 22:32

Thanks everyone!

I’ll have a look at the statistics and see how popular each name is in our area. I’m not too bothered really as I do love all the names but it’s nice to know which ones are more used than others.

Love the dog called Nameless! My family have been calling her Gertie until we decide on a name but that will probably stick and they’ll call her Gertie anyway.

I do like Eden, it was briefly mentioned when we were discussing names, there’s a couple of others we like too but these are the main four that have always been top since we found out she was a girl.

It’s so hard picking a name, we only came home from hospital yesterday and all the doctors and midwives we saw while we were there seemed shocked that we hadn’t named her yet.
