Honest opinions on Edith please...

Not that we should be adding to our ridiculously long girl's list but I've been liking it a lot recently... I'm curious to know how well received it is. Thanks!

It would have been ds2’s name if he were a girl - I think it’s lovely.
(My mum would have disowned me I think since we had an ancient great Auntie Edie and that’s what it reminds her of.)

I know an Edie, an Edith & an Eden - all under the age of 4, and lovely lovely names.

I don’t think we’re going to keep Edith in the running anymore, anyway.

Beatrix, Cecily & Penelope are our top three girl names. Felicity & Imogen are maybes as of now but are still in the running.

We’ve decided agasint Edith, Elodie, Florence, Frances, Margot & Phoebe. I’m sad about losing Elodie & Margot but we’ve been told Elodie is too close to Violet aka Letty & I know Margot is too close to Theo, our son’s NN but what he goes by 99.9% of the time 💔

We have Elias, Elijah, Sebastian & Zachary on our boy’s list.

I also like a lot of the old-fashioned names, but Edith isnt one of them.
Doesnt have a feminine feel.

I quite like it but I prefer Imogen. I am pregnant and suggested it to OH but he says no

Still deciding, @bridgetreilly but we’ve got until late Feb / early March to decide lol. We found out we’re having a boy and a girl at the weekend though :)

I agree with PP that Aurora has a different feel to Edith, but i think Violet bridges the gap between the two, as it is both nature-y and old-lady chic. I think Aurora, Violet and Edith would be a lovely sister set.

I see Aurora as being very modern, from America (nothing wrong with that obviously) but it is not an old name.

Aurora and Violet are gorgeous OP! Congrats.

Phoebe, Beatrice, Cecilia or Imogen would go brilliantly. The first two go the best IMO.

Don’t ruin it with Edith - she’ll always be the sister who drew the short straw name-wise. Use it as a middle name.

@LeeMiller Thats true. I don't Aurora stands out as different in style but I guess it's subjective. I remember when we were naming Violet, people saying that it fitted in better with "our classic style" our other option, Willow. I've always felt like Aurora and Violet pair well but Violet doesn't feel completely "old lady" to me lol.

Both are lovely names and I think people can get carried away with sibling names matching - most of their lives they'll be known independently and won't come as a set.
