Our baby girl was born prematurely by emergency c/s 10 days ago and she doesn't have a name yet. I'm feeling the pressure with everyone asking but am not sure about my shortlist any more and can't agree on one with DH.

I like 2 syllable names ending with an 'a' or 'e' sound, we have Poppy and Theo already. Also like Greek names. I think she needs a strong name. Surname is one syllable starting with 'W'. On our shortlist are:
Alice - my Grandma's name (maybe good as a middle name?)
Juno - does 'o' ending work with Theo? Are we brave enough
Phoebe
Bonnie
Sylvie - DH's favourite
Gracie
Orla
Cassia
Ariel
Florence
Iris

I would really appreciate some thoughts on our list and/or new inspiration. Thanks!

Phoebe, Iris, Orla and Alice are beautiful, I'm afraid I don't like the rest!

BellMcEnd · 19/08/2018 11:58

I like Merryn more than Romily and I don’t know anyone with either name (I’m in the UK).

How about:-

Penelope
Caroline

Love Alice and think it goes well with both of the above.

Congratulations on your baby, hope you’re recovering wellFlowers

NorthernLassie21 · 19/08/2018 11:53

Thanks everyone for your help SmileFlowers we're still struggling to decide/agree. Then I saw 2 names mentioned today on another post, which are a bit different to my choices - what do you think of Merryn and Romilly? Are they very popular in the UK (We are in New Zealand at the moment) thanks again Grin

My favourites would have to be Cassia or Bonnie. Though, Phoebe and Alice would also be nice alongside Poppy and Theo.

As for other suggestions, Alicia, Cara or Flora would be lovely.

Maireadd · 19/08/2018 06:31

Congrats! Hope you’re doing well.

I personally think Theo and Juno is a bit matchy, but love the others.

Sylvie and Florence (means flourishing, which seems fitting!) are my favourites I think.

Nomad86 · 18/08/2018 17:28

Lucy
Anna

implantsandaDyson · 18/08/2018 17:24

Congratulations - hope you're both doing well Thanks
I love Sylvie - it's probably my favourite from your list. It's a good list Grin. I'm not as fussed on Bonnie but I much prefer Connie?. I don't like Orla - I find it dull and dated. Was very popular where I am when I was younger and I'm always a bit bemused by it's popularity on MN.

ReginaPhalange89 · 18/08/2018 16:27

I have a Phoebe so that always gets my vote , adore it!

Phoebe Alice sounds nice. I also like Bonnie and Florence from your list .

SuperstarDJ · 18/08/2018 13:54

Phoebe Alice or Cassia Iris get my vote.

Congrats Flowers

Aquamarine1029 · 18/08/2018 13:38

Flora
Reva

DC2018 · 18/08/2018 13:21

I like Orla best but Iris is also lovely. Alice woild also br nice as a first name x

Bristolgal · 18/08/2018 11:46

I love your list!
Sylvie is beautiful! As is Alice and Florence.

I really dislike Juno and Ariel; and am not a huge fan of Bonnie or Cassia.

Gracie just seems dull now as it's everywhere! Same for Phoebe.

I think Sylvie Alice W_ is a beautiful and strong name!

Other ideas,
Briony
Erena (like Erin, but with the 'uh' sound on the end)
Zara

Congratulations Grin

MISHGS · 18/08/2018 11:03

Phoebe Alice sounds lovely.
I also love Orla but not sure it goes with Alice.

BabloHoney · 18/08/2018 10:42

Congrats on your little girl!! Love love love Alice and Cassia x

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/08/2018 10:41

Orla.

itssquidstella · 18/08/2018 10:41

Congratulations OP!

Thoughts on your list:

Alice - as a middle name, probably, but it's lovely
Juno - it's nice but I'm not wild about it. I don't think it's that 'out there' anymore, tbh - I know of a few small Junos
Phoebe - nice
Bonnie - I HATE this name. Sorry, but I just can't stand it
Sylvie - This is my favourite too. Absolutely beautiful
Gracie - only as a nickname for Grace. A bit meh
Orla - meh
Cassia - love it!
Ariel - no definitely not
Florence - nice
Iris - lovely

Pompom42 · 18/08/2018 10:27

I like Bonnie and Phoebe.

AdaColeman · 18/08/2018 10:16

Sylvie or Phoebe get my vote.

Not keen on Orla or Gracie, though Grace is pretty.

soloula · 18/08/2018 10:15

How about Lyra?

Jammiebammie · 18/08/2018 10:11

Congratulations, I hope everything is going well.

What about Zoë? It’s Greek, 2 syllables and ends with an e sound (im biased though) Wink

I think Orla is my favourite from your list.

Petitpomme · 18/08/2018 10:08

Sylvie Alice W...is beautiful as is Juno Alice W...
Or go for both

Sylvie Juno W...
Juno Sylvie W...

Both are on my list too. I love Ariel but I think people won't be able to get past the little mermaid reference just yet.

Ginandplatonic · 18/08/2018 10:06

I love Sylvie and Poppy, Theo and Sylvie sounds great!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 18/08/2018 10:01

Congratulations!
I love Orla & the meaning is golden princess.
Sylvie is lovely too & means from the forest.
I think Orla Sylvie (Sylvie as the middle name) sounds fab & goes well with Poppy & Theo.
