Dated? Boring? Pretty? Due a come back? 🤔

Do you know a Nicole?

Kettleonplease - I would never have thought of Nicole as a 'common' name... There is a long list of those kind of names before you would get to Nicole. But each to their own 🙂

I get the people saying it might be a bit dated though.

But I think it's a pretty name and is a lot nicer than some of the old school names making a come back.

Not at all kettle! Perhaps I'm basing it on the two Nicoles I know, but both are very sophisticated ladies! It suits a child and a woman too.

mrsnec · 17/08/2018 12:04

I'm one. I'm very sophisticated!

I was born late 70's. I have only ever met 2 others and both were the same age as me.

I like my name. Always have. I don't like it's meaning though and would go with Lucy if that's a concern. Also I have a rubbish 5 syllable middle name that everyone else had atthe time and think it goes better with shorter names if you decide to use it.

Cbeebiesrehab · 17/08/2018 12:01

Watching ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and thought it was a dated choice. Then again the other babies have dated names too, such as Angela. (Wondering now if that’s the point...🤔)

kettleonplease · 17/08/2018 11:57

No, and I'm not saying that is especially sophisticated either. Nicole just reminds me of a 'common' popstar, or Eastenders character. Sorry 🙈

bobstersmum · 17/08/2018 11:14

Do we take it your name is Lucy, Kettle?

kettleonplease · 17/08/2018 11:03

@mintich - 'Nicole'- sophisticated?! Are you being sarcastic?!

Marcipex · 17/08/2018 08:20

I love it.

bobstersmum · 17/08/2018 08:04

Haha just seen that it also reminds others of it too

bobstersmum · 17/08/2018 08:03

I know a Nicole in her early 20's she's lovely. I like the name, it reminds me of the very old Renault clio advert, Nicoooooole!

SardineJam · 17/08/2018 07:41

....DS is under 10 btw, and all the other Nicholas' I've met have been 35+ . Nice to have a normal name that's not overly popular

Flamingosnbears · 17/08/2018 07:41

There was a Nicole in my DC's school I wouldn't say it was dated just different to current trends.

SardineJam · 17/08/2018 07:39

DS is Nicholas and if he had been a girl definitely Nicole - - Lucy is very commonplace

ReginaPhalange89 · 17/08/2018 07:35

I like it too, the only Nicole's I know are in their late 20s/early 30s and all really nice !

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/08/2018 07:33

Lucy is better. Nicole is ok but dated.

NoSleepTil2030 · 17/08/2018 07:00

I know two Smile. One late 20s, one early teens. It's a good choice!

mintich · 17/08/2018 06:48

Nicole is so pretty! Much more sophisticated than Lucy. I think it goes well with Erin too.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 17/08/2018 06:24

Lucy Nicole is nice. I do think Lucy goes better with Erin. (Isobel lovely too but too many around. Lucy is both lovely and unusual these days).

Pudding01 · 17/08/2018 06:16

Thank you for all your replies 🙂

I asked because my DH has always liked the name and I wanted to see the response, as I've never seen the name on here...

A few negative amongst loads of positives. I think Nicole is a contender. But not sure it beats Lucy for me x

Love the name. I know a couple. I also know a Nicolette who has the nn Lettie

BigLass9 · 17/08/2018 01:24

Lovely name

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/08/2018 01:15

Well my dd was almost Nicole.
I only changed it when I realised her initials would have been nobGrin
Good job I noticed before registaring her.

SundayGirls · 16/08/2018 23:49

Love it even though I'm old enough to think "Papa"! It helps that the Nicole actress was gorgeous too.

AtSea1979 · 16/08/2018 23:47

Don’t like it at all. Also thought of Papa too.

AlbertaSimmons · 16/08/2018 23:44

Four, actually now I come to think of it.
