Changing baby name !! Help!

Help...
I’m changing my babies name he is 11 months!! Has anyone done this before? I feel guilty for doing it but it took me the full 42 days to decide on the name in the first place and I’m still not 100%
I’ve been going over and over in my head for months since I registered him about changing it. Now my husband has said if I want to we can, but just need to do it and stop talking about it. I’m not sure what’s stopping me maybe guilt or what other people think... I don’t know. I’m also finding it hard to move away from his current name even tho I’m clearly not 100% happy with it.

Guy Gibson ww2.

Picknickers · 14/08/2018 22:40

We have a family friend called Guy so I'm biased but I really like it. I can't imagine anyone picking on him. He's too cool!

cheshiremama89 · 14/08/2018 20:45

I think Guy is a lovely name, and cool when he's older

Mimishell · 14/08/2018 20:41

Aaah thanks for all of your kind input and responses...
There were other names I loved but then you know what it’s like hard to both love the same name sometimes!! I do love dexter and Fraser and he does look like either!! To be fair he is just very cute and most names would suit him! I would still refer to him as my little guy either way. Just not sure what to do.
It’s interesting to hear so many of you love or like his name. I definitely over think things! I just wonder if he will love it, but I spose that’s the case with any name you give them.

It’s my DB’s name and has served him well as boy and man.

DryIce · 14/08/2018 20:24

I think Guy is a great name. Strong, simple, with a good history and everyone can spell it. I tried to get my husband to consider it for this baby, but to no avail.

Do you have another name you love? If not, I'd keep it - and enjoy your beautiful little Guy!

SuperstarDJ · 14/08/2018 20:19

I wouldn’t change it. You said upthread that you love the name Guy. I wouldn’t let the reaction of one little girl who doesn’t know any better put you off. Plus it’s a much nicer name than Dexter imo.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 14/08/2018 20:16

I have taught a few Guys and they were fantastic.

PeachesandPie · 14/08/2018 20:13

I know a few Guy's, all are incredibly successful adults! It's a great name.

bridgetreilly · 14/08/2018 20:10

You are massively overthinking this. There is nothing wrong with the name Guy, there's no reason to think he'll be teased for it, and it would be very weird to change it now.

Icklepup · 14/08/2018 20:07

Don't change it

DumbledorePlum · 14/08/2018 20:03

I think Guy is an awesome name don't doubt yourself it's lovely

MikeUniformMike · 14/08/2018 19:59

I used to work with a man called Guy. He was so good looking and sporty.

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/08/2018 19:57

I like Guy too. A name that suits an adult and a child. Only met one and he was a lovely young man.

Monday55 · 14/08/2018 19:56

@Mimishell no she had no regrets, she just loved both names. she just couldn't decide on which name should come 1st and I think it took her 2years to make up her mind. The only annoyed people was friends and family as we where used to the old name. her daughter is now 8 and I still switch between the two names and the mum does the same herself..

NanooCov · 14/08/2018 19:55

I like Guy. Guy Martin, Guy Garvey, Guy Ritchie, Guy Pearce. All lush.

sexnotgender · 14/08/2018 19:53

Guy is great! Much better than Fraser or Dexter.

ToftheB · 14/08/2018 19:52

I like Guy too. It’s a proper name and I can’t see how it could cause any issues for him. There was a Guy at my primary school and nobody batted an eyelid.

ReginaPhalange89 · 14/08/2018 19:51

I don't think there's anything wrong with Guy! I know it's not to everyone's taste but I don't see why he would be teased about it . Have you mentioned it to family or anything ? Maybe do as a previous poster said and try a name out for a few days and see what you think

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/08/2018 19:47

I like it, a good strong name and I think it’s got a cool vibe to it.

Coco2891 · 14/08/2018 19:46

Is there not a name that you absolutely LOVE ? It's a big deal changing a child's name after nearly a year so you've gotta be sure you've picked the right name . 😬 I like Dexter, friend of mine had a Jasper which was my suggestion , the rest of names I like are all hippy names

Larrythelamb84 · 14/08/2018 19:44

My child has a boy in her class called Boy. She kept asking me, but what's his real name? The confusion is still there two years after they started school together. So I'd say Guy is pretty reasonable, I actually quite like it.

Interestingly, I sometimes look at my daughter and think that she doesn't suit her name, but I'd never dream of changing it.

MikeUniformMike · 14/08/2018 19:41

Guy is terrific. I love it.

Dangerousminds · 14/08/2018 19:40

It's really tough. Nothing wrong with Guy, it is a nice name, but you need to be happy with it.
Maybe discuss with DH and actually choose another name you would like, and call him that for a couple of days, see how it feels. And write a list of pros and cons of changing it, getting everything out on paper always helps. Whatever happens you need to decide and not look back, maybe give yourself a deadline to make the final decision and stick with it!

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Mimishell · 14/08/2018 19:26

Fraser or Dexter have been discussed as these are names that we both mutually liked before registering him.
