Girls names, ugh. HELP! Avery?

Alright so i’ve had my boys names picked out for years. But, turns out i’m having a girl. I am having the hardest time picking a name, because I hate most girls names. Right now, I think i’ve almost completely decided on Avery but do you guys think that’s an okay girls name? Also, for middle names I’m either gonna do Lyanna or cecilia. But, i’m considering doing both. i have two middle names and its never made anything difficult at all. So, what do you think of Avery Lyanna Cecilia? Or one or the other? Or just Avery? Thanks so much!

Not keen on Avery, sounds too much like "slavery".

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/08/2018 20:31

Avery is terrible. For a girl or a boy.

Cecilia is lovey, like Cecily too.

MikeUniformMike · 16/08/2018 19:28

The Adriennes I know say it as Add-ree-enne. Adrien is pronounced Adrian.
"AY-DREE-UN!" was spelt Adrian.

RachelAnneJ · 15/08/2018 14:04

IMO Adrian is a boys name, Adrienne is the female version.

Avery just reminds me of labels first and a surname second. I went to school with a girl who's surname was Avery.

SoyDora · 15/08/2018 13:58

Is Adrian a girls name?! I know loads of male Adrian’s, all late 30’s. Adrienne is the girls version isn’t it?
Avery reminds me of Aviary but I don’t hate it, it’s ok. I like Cecilia.

BevBrook · 15/08/2018 13:55

I have never heard of Adrian as a girls name! Adrienne, yes.
I like Avery and have never heard of any of the commercial things - printers, labels whatever. Yes it does make me think of birds but that’s not a bad thing.

HonkyWonkWoman · 15/08/2018 13:53

Sorry! Not liking Avery! For no other reason than it sounds wrong!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 15/08/2018 13:50

My grandmother’s name is Avery, I asked her recently how she felt about it and she said as a child she wasn’t a fan but she has really appreciated it as she’s grown older - no-one has ever questioned ‘which Avery?’, never been Avery X, for example. And people never forget her name.

AuntieStella · 15/08/2018 12:33

The Death Eater Avery has a twin called Alecto, so the combination with her brother will make the association considerably stronger.

I think DC will be reading Harry Potter books for years to come, so it is likely to remain current for the foreseeable.

AmyRhodes · 15/08/2018 12:27

I know a little boy named Avery.

If you love it, that's all that matters. Cecilia is my favourite of your girl's names and for me, it's too special a name to be tucked in as a second middle name.

Goostacean · 15/08/2018 11:28

Love your boy’s names! Remain unconvinced by Avery, personally- what have you decided based on all the comments? 😊

Maria1299 · 15/08/2018 06:38

Thanks to everyone for the opinions it’s been so much help!!

My boys names are Alecai Michael and Adrian Damien.
I know someone is going to say Adrian is a girls name but it’s always been a boys name to me and I love it.

There an Avery in Charlottes Webb. Lovely name.

buckingfrolicks · 14/08/2018 22:40

Charlottes Webb. Lovely name.

Picknickers · 14/08/2018 22:32

I like it. There's always going to be a random connection to something and scales and bird houses aren't obnoxious. How ridiculous to say she'll hate it! How does the pp know?!

DramaAlpaca · 14/08/2018 21:48

I don't like it at all. It reminds me of aviaries and sticky labels.

Strawberry2017 · 14/08/2018 21:47

I ❤️ it, I wanted it for my daughter but DH wasn't keen. X

supadupapupascupa · 14/08/2018 21:46

Oh and I’ve spent many an hour with a very large Avery floor scale Grin still it doesn’t bother me

supadupapupascupa · 14/08/2018 21:45

Avery not avert!!!

supadupapupascupa · 14/08/2018 21:44

Avert is my dh middle name. Apparently it used to be a family surname, which was hyphenated then dropped. It is now my sons middle name. I love it

ladycarlotta · 14/08/2018 21:42

I see it divides opinion, but here's another vote in favour of Avery. I think it's a lovely name.

Sessy19 · 14/08/2018 21:42

I like Avery.

I don’t know about labels or scales or whatever...but my name is also used commercially and I don’t believe anyone has ever said as much to my face or to my mother that I resemble said product...I’m sure your daughter will be fine! 😂

I like Lyanna, and I like the spelling.

Not a fan of Cecilia. But I knew one once and she was the single most boring individual I ever had to talk to. So that’s shaped the association for me.

What boys name did you line up? I like you girl names, so I’ll probably like your boy names...and I find boys to tough! Help a gal out?? 😁😬

Maria1299 · 14/08/2018 21:33

Also Avery is a unisex name for me but I’ve always thought it sounded too feminine as a boys name. I’ve never heard of Avery labels so that connection doesn’t bother me. I’ve never met anyone with Avery as their surname.

Its lee-anna. and while i do like cecilia a lot its just not a first name for me.

I associate it with Avery scales or Avery labels. It's awful as a girl's name.
