Are three names + surname too many?

The reason I ask is because DH and I both love two different potential middle names for a girl and rather than one of us losing the coin toss we were thinking we should perhaps have both. But would four names be overkill? Our surname is very boring and only one syllable, which simplifies things a bit. I just wonder whether four names would be a bit faffy for her when she gets to the stage of filling in forms for school, work etc. Or am I just really lazy? Grin

Me, my siblings and my children all have 3 given names + surname. It’s fine.

My DC each have two middle names. Their second middle names are from a different culture and are spelt in English using two different names so it looks as if they have four names + surname

Absolutely fine! Its rare that you often say the full name outloud after initially telling people their name anyway so can't see it being much of an issue. And congratulations!

DS1 has three names plus a double barrelled surname (though he now only uses the last surname). Not an issue at all, except on passport forms as his name is 31 letters (form has 30 spaces). So his second middle name was left off the main page, and the full name appears under 'Official Observations' instead.

Dgs has four names, his "own" and two after much loved and sadly deceased great-grandfathers, and his last name. Go for it. :)

Dh insisted on it for when they open the batting fir England apparently multiple initials is the done thing in cricket

Both my kids have three names plus surname. DH reckons it sounds better for cricketers...not that they are likely to be, but hey ho

My DS has 4 names including a double-barrelled surname (so technically 5 separate names) never been a problem. DH's name follows the same format and we'll be continuing it for DS2 when he arrives.

You might find on some official documents, the second middle name might be omitted if the whole thing is too long.

DS has four names, one of which is a four-letter, one syllable, surname. None of the names is very long, six letters is the longest. If you're thinking of Elisabetta Hepzibah Georgiana, it might be a bit of a faff.
