After taking into account all the comments have decided to let Alexa go (and let my love for the nn Lexie go towards a cat or something XD). Now need to choose between these names so your opinions would be great

Thank you everyone! Have ended up set on Margot Evangeline (hopefully I don’t change my mind again but I really do love this). If she eventually has a sister she’ll be named Violet Grin

Violet. Alexandra is lovely name too if you love Lexie though.

CocoLoco87 · 10/08/2018 10:08

I love Margot Evangeline

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 10/08/2018 09:59

I know an Evangeline. Her nn is Jelly.

TatianaLarina · 10/08/2018 09:47

Or just Vage

sar501 · 10/08/2018 09:24

Violet by a mile. Not keen on Evangeline and it’s likely to be shortened to Vangie or even worse Vange...

TatianaLarina · 10/08/2018 09:21

Violet and Margot are both great.

Don’t like Evangeline at all.

Lucylookingforhelp · 10/08/2018 07:49

@hellsbells552 we are seriously considering it. I don’t know what it is with me but can’t seem to stick with a name for 5 minutes however Margot is exactly what I’m looking for- elegant and feminine with a bit of spunk.

Also prefer Violet but Evangeline goes much better with Margot. Also agree that Margot could be the first name! Margot Evangeline ...

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 09/08/2018 09:48

Evangeline is a marmite name, but I disagree that it is pretentious. I like that it is unusual enough that there are unlikely to be 3 in a class (I have one of those names that virtually every 3rd girl in my year group shared, with the obligatory Louise as a middle name), but at the same time there is the option to go for a more 'normal' nn if she wants to. Best of both worlds imo.

rosealltheway · 09/08/2018 09:06

Violet 100% such a gorgeous name.

Evangeline too much of a mouthful, bit pretentious but shortened to Evan- boys name, not nice at all or the super twee Evie- yuck.

wizzler · 09/08/2018 08:43

I like Violet more than Evangeline.I prefer Nina though ( sorry)

Icklepup · 09/08/2018 08:05

I prefer Violet but Evangeline goes better with Margot.

miamiibiza · 09/08/2018 05:27

Violet

Argeles · 09/08/2018 05:04

Evangeline is really beautiful. I personally do not like Violet.

Pemba · 09/08/2018 04:52

Violet has a nice meaning, but the name itself doesn't have a nice sound, if you say it over. Much prefer Evangeline.

Mousefunky · 09/08/2018 02:15

I love Evangeline but I feel as though it would be shortened to Eva or Evie and both are ridiculously common.

Violet is also fairly common atm though. I prefer Evangeline.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 08/08/2018 23:31

Evangeline. Violet is lovely too, but doesn't flow with Margot. Wrt nicknames, people will follow your lead, so if you call her by her full name or preferred nn they will usually copy you.
Schools always ask you to fill out a form stating what your child prefers to be called and my dc's teachers have always asked whether I mind them abbreviating dd's name.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 08/08/2018 23:18

Violet!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/08/2018 23:16

Margot is so much nicer than Evangeline and Violet. I would choose that OP.

MarthaArthur · 08/08/2018 23:11

I like both. Evangeline is due a come back its beautiful. Plus it reminds me of that song Grin

MarthaArthur · 08/08/2018 23:10

Cornwall73 · 08/08/2018 23:10

Both names were on our long list for DD. How does Evangeline Margot work with the surname? We went for a different name in the end but Evangeline was pretty high on my list but not on DHs.

DC2018 · 08/08/2018 23:07

I love Violet. Evangeline is a bit of a mouthful tbh x

Jollyholliday · 08/08/2018 23:04

I prefer Evangeline to Violet but even more so now you've said the middle name will be Margot!
Violet Margot sounds too clunky to me and doesn't flow
