Can't choose between these two!

Hello everyone! My husband and I are stuck between two names for our baby boy--Sanford (I always liked the nickname Sandy) or Jody. I love both of these names and I could definitely use some help choosing!
Thanks!

Sanford sounds like it should be a make of toilets.
Jody sounds and looks like a girl's name.
I like Sandy for a girl.
How about Jobey for a boy?

MadMaryBoddington · 06/08/2018 19:33

Jody. Sanford is bloody awful.

PinkAvocado · 06/08/2018 19:29

Sandy just makes me think Olivia NJ in Grease and makes me sing, ‘oh Sandy, baby’. Either that or I see it more as a descriptive word. If you really like Sandy, Alexander is much nicer.

Jody I also don’t like too much but like the option of Joe.

BrutusMcDogface · 06/08/2018 19:25

Like a pp, I also knew a very gorgeous and very cool Jody. Op- will your child be gorgeous and cool?! If so- Jody it is! If not, then go with Sanford/sandy.

Sanford, very cool, love Sandy.
Sorry, not keen on Jody.

Pemba · 06/08/2018 17:59

No.

Sophronia · 06/08/2018 17:43

I like Jody for a boy.

PennyGH · 06/08/2018 16:03

I know a Sandy, short for Lysander. Super cool. I’d go for that or Alexander if you want the nickname Sandy.

AndSpin · 06/08/2018 15:59

Jody. My brother had a mate called Jody years ago, he was blond haired and totally gorgeous, he was a skateboarder and all my mates fancied him.

littlecabbage · 06/08/2018 14:37

Neither are names that I like (sorry). But of the two, I'd chose Sanford, as It's more masculine 🙂 x

^ this.

girlandboy · 06/08/2018 14:35

As previous posters have already done, isn't Sanford going to be misspelled? We've already got Sandford which tbh is how I'd spell it if I heard it.
Jody is more of a girl's name.

DramaAlpaca · 06/08/2018 12:48

I consider Jody to be a girl's name, so on the basis of that, Sanford.

Nearlymothertofour · 06/08/2018 12:45

Sanford is a lovely name!!

MariaMadita · 06/08/2018 12:45

Sanford is great!

I don't like Jody.

Icklepup · 06/08/2018 12:08

Sanford

HeyDolly · 06/08/2018 12:04

Out of your two choices, Sanford.

Pudding01 · 06/08/2018 11:42

Good call on Alexander nn Sandy PP. I much prefer it!

Flamingosnbears · 06/08/2018 11:07

Sandford out of your choices

bridgetreilly · 06/08/2018 11:03

I would also choose Alexander nn Sandy.

AuntieStella · 06/08/2018 10:59

Sandy is a nn for Alexander, which I think is rather nicer than Sanford.

I prefer Jody to Sanford.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/08/2018 10:00

Sanford sounds like a surname. It's ok I guess.

I do know of a male Jody. He will be in his 40's now. It's predominantly a female name though imo.

RedDwarves · 06/08/2018 09:32

Sanford is okay.

Jody should only ever be used for a girl, and even then it shouldn't be used.

Snog · 06/08/2018 09:31

Both sound like they would work well in the USA but not so much in the UK

Joeybee · 06/08/2018 09:07

Sanford, and Sandy is a really nice nickname. Not a fan of Jody at all.

Pudding01 · 06/08/2018 09:01

Neither are names that I like (sorry). But of the two, I'd chose Sanford, as It's more masculine 🙂 x
