Thoughts on Parsley as a boys' name??

I know it could sound ridiculous, but it occured to me a couple of weeks ago and for some reason it's really grown on me? I just love how natural and sensitive it sounds.

It also reminds of "I'm a very friendly Lion called Parsley" from the Herb Garden.

Also can you imagine the hard time he'd have being taken seriously as an adult, at job interviews and the like? He wouldn't get a look in

One of my ponies’ stable name was Parsley when I was 12. He was a real goer to hounds actually.

It’s not a name for a human unless you want your child to grow up super-tough (boy named Sue).

How about Percy or Percival? Very similar & is at least a proper name. Parsley is just awful, sorry.

A friend’s dh did suggest Hal (short for Halibut) for one of their boys. He’d be good friends with Parsley.

Yes, the fact that it is an actual name, even if a bit obscure, probably helps. Parsley doesn't have that advantage !

This reminds me of a game I used to play in primary school - inventing silly names for imaginary people.

Of course, parsley in French is Persil. How about calling a son Persil and a daughter Fairy? Or if another boy, then he could be Daz and the next girl Arial. I think themes are the way to go...

In 12 years from now some poor teacher will be trying to keep a straight face whilst telling the other little darlings off for calling your child herbal, spicy and who knows what other stupid culinary names.

Unless you want him coming home crying (or suspended for fighting) for being called “curry powder” or “bouquet Garni”.

I quite like it but it could be hard to live with. I would consider it for a dog though and I've taken more time deciding on my dogs names than the children's.
