At the moment we are thinking of either Marissa or Marianne. What do you think of either of these names & which one is better?

Thank you! X

I prefer Marisa (idk why but it just looks better with one s imo. Is it commonly spelled with two s? Confused...).

Melissa and Maria Luisa are also really nice imo :)

Itsonitsway · 06/08/2018 14:21

Marianne is lovely. Marissa sounds a bit made up to me.

HeyDolly · 06/08/2018 11:56

I think I prefer Mariella to Marianne or Marissa. Agree that Marissa is more modern than Marianne.

RedDwarves · 06/08/2018 09:31

Marianne.

Reminds me of Marianne Faithfull - great association.

Joeybee · 06/08/2018 09:08

Marissa sounds more modern and fits in with the feel of a lot of popular names like Esme and Freya and Poppy. Marianne is a nice name, but sounds pretty dated.

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/08/2018 08:47

I know an adult Larissa that gets shortened to Larry which I think is just so cute lol.

I do like Marissa , I don't know any personally, reminds me of The OC! Marissa was one of the main characters.

Bristolgal · 06/08/2018 02:09

Both are lovely! But i think Marianne has the edge for me Smile

Sophronia · 06/08/2018 01:23

Marianne

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/08/2018 18:58

Marianne. It's a beautiful, beautiful name, and I'm also fond of it because it's the name of the girl who befriended me when I arrived in England from Scotland at age 7.

OrdinaryGirl · 05/08/2018 18:58

I know a lovely Marissa, but for me Marianne wins the day (I liked Sense & Sensibility).

Shambu · 05/08/2018 18:55

Marianne.

BoyInTheOven · 05/08/2018 18:53

Ohhh I Like Marcia (I'm not sure if pp saying it sounds like Marcia was a positive thing though) I think it's lovely

RiverTam · 05/08/2018 18:50

Marianne - love it!

Snowcookie · 05/08/2018 18:49

Marissa.

daisypond · 05/08/2018 18:49

Marianne by miles. But Marissa is nice too.

MerryMarigold · 05/08/2018 18:40

I have one of them!! She's named that for a specific reason but also love the name. I like your other choice too. I also was interested in Tamsin, Claudia, Kirsten and Meredith.

OhSandyBaby · 05/08/2018 18:40

I love Marianne too! Beautiful name

Awrite · 05/08/2018 18:39

I love Marianne.

And, there's that great Leonard Cohen song, 'So long Marianne'. Just lovely.

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 05/08/2018 18:37

Marissa, but then I love watching Michael Weatherly in Bull on TV and there is a Marissa on there and she is beautiful!

ZebraKid71 · 05/08/2018 18:30

I don't like Mariska but Marianne is gorgeous. Would have used it for dd2 but dd1 already has an "Ann" sound in her name.

The only thing that would put me off is that the only Marianne I know in real life gets called Maz.

MikeUniformMike · 05/08/2018 18:24

I prefer Marissa.

Jillyjollyjandy · 05/08/2018 18:11

Marianne

PassportBridgetPants · 05/08/2018 18:10

Would you shorten them at all? The opportunity for nicknames helps me choose between names if I'm stuck.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/08/2018 17:22

Marissa is beautiful.💕

Maireadd · 05/08/2018 17:20

Marianne is amazing! Makes me think of the lovely Leonard Cohen song.
