What can Immy be a nickname for

I've got two children already Albie (full name Albert) and Edie (Eden) and I'm expecting twins a boy and a girl. We've already decided to name the boy Otto and so I'd like to keep on the theme of vowel names and have fallen in love with the name Immy however I'm not keen on Imogen. Could we just name her Immy or is there any other suitable longer names?

The OP never mentioned Ottoman. The name is Otto.

Steven is not short for Stevenage.

I agree with PP that you can’t call him Ottoman. He’ll have the mick ripped for his entire life. I also don’t think it’s right to call her just ‘Immy’. It doesn’t sound very professional and I don’t think she would thank you for it. Imogen is lovely

Otto just reminds me of the stoner/drunk school bus driver in The Simpson’s.

Otis is nice though. And Imelda is much nicer than Imogen

Oh lord, don’t say that on Mumsnet! You know what will happen- in 6 years time Reception classes will be full of little Huguenots. And the following year, there will be Plantagenets and Gothas “Sooo pretty for a little girl........”

Otto has been a proper name for a long time but this is the first time I've ever heard it linked to Ottoman.

It's like saying the full name for Hugo is Huguenot.

An ode is a sort of poem, the 'e' at the end just makes the 'o' at t he beginning sound out (like 'oh') it's not pronounced itself at all. So ode doesn't sound similar to Edie. But it's also not a name. Go with Otis or Otto :) both sound good with the other names you have picked.

Immy is usually a nickname for Imogen in my experience. I don't think it stands well on it's own. If you are looking for short girls names beginning with I how about Ivy, Iris or Irene?

@brizzledrizzle yes I know I had thought that but my thinking was that even if she's the first twin they collective will probably be my last born.

We had names for the other two so quickly and easily having not even found out the genders before they were born but I'm really struggle this time. Really not helped by my mother in laws constant input which I'm happy to ignore but my husband can't seem to do the same

Just seen you like Immy because it means last born, that can't be guaranteed with twins and everybody will ask which is the older twin.

Ottoman is a piece of furniture, just go with Otto if you like but it reminds me of the American imprisoned in North Korea
Everybody will assume that Immy is Imogen.

@spreadingchestnuttree thank you I've also not heard of many Otto's and love the idea of having children's name which aren't overly popular or common and yes I agree, whenever I tell people Edie's name they are quick to ask what it's short for and I'd imagine Immy will be the same
