Eilidh or Eimear?

I also like Caitriona.

Middle name will be Mary.

We're in Glasgow, strong Irish contingent among friends and family so I don't see many pronunciation difficulties coming up.

I like Maria, mainly because the Marias I know are nice.
Eilidh Marie is a bit wafty but Eilidh Maria is nice. Do you have a scottish surname?

I think Eimear Mary is fabulous, rolls off the tongue really nicely! I know of 4 girls named Eimear/Emer under 20,so it doesn't seem dated to me at all.

Eilidh Marie is too wafty, I think.

DH quite likes Maria as a first name tbh. Now that sounds dated to me.

I know a grown up Eimear-she is Irish but lives in England.

She pronounces it E-ma

I know a little Eimear, her mum is from NI. I'd not heard it before her, tbh. Eilidh is a gorgeous choice too.

Eilidh Mary is a bit of a mouthful. We won't use Mary often, it's just to honour an aunt.

I like the sound of them all. I don't know anyone under 25 called either name... that doesn't really bother me.

Boys names were much easier!

Second the poster who said Eimear is dated. Eilidh is lovely, but combined with the middle name sounds Cockney for Hail Mary.

Eilidh is nice. I think Eimear and Catriona are a bit out of date. They are names you associate more with people in their 30's or 40's.
