Athena??

Hi all! I was on here last week asking about my conundrum with the name Thea. I decided to not go with that one. However, I'm now falling in love the name Athena, and not just because of how it sounds.

Athena, in Greek mythology, was the Goddess of wisdom and my name means wisdom, so I thought it would be a sweet little link to me.

So, be honest with me. Athena - yay or nay? Is it usable?

Athene is lovely.

Agustarella · 02/08/2018 18:44

I remember thinking that shop was the height of sophisticated good taste when I was about ten! Also really like the name.

DD1's middle name is Athene.

theunsure · 02/08/2018 15:29

Hate it, but that’s because its the name of a work project I’m involved in (Athena SWAN).

It is otherwise a good name!

Mousefunky · 02/08/2018 15:21

There’s one in my DD’s class and I love it.

DameSquashalot · 01/08/2018 17:10

I can't even remember the last time I saw an ATHENA. The name has been around so much longer than the shop.

AnyaMoondial · 01/08/2018 12:44

Yep, like it.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/08/2018 12:39

It's lovely OP. It doesn't matter that the poster shop was called Athena does it?

Treaclepie19 · 01/08/2018 11:42

I love the name Athena :)

LoveInTokyo · 01/08/2018 11:30

I like it.

DameSquashalot · 01/08/2018 11:11

I used to LOVE the shop. I used to spend most of my pocket money there. However, I know an Athena now, and I make absolutely no connection with the shop. Her parents are Cypriots and that's bthe only connection Iake with the name.

Lovely name and it suits her so well.

Sorry to hijack your baby name thread OP - but for those of you who are of a similar age to me - this should bring back some memories: Athena

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 01/08/2018 10:57

Love it! DD2 middle name is Artemis and considered Athena too.

Jillyjollyjandy · 01/08/2018 10:51

Love it.

FluffyMcCloud · 01/08/2018 10:50

I also know an Athena pronounced ATH uh nuh - parents are Greek.

I like that more than Atheeeeeena

Scaredandshattered · 01/08/2018 10:47

I love Athena :) it sounds so strong and independent

MagicFajita · 01/08/2018 10:46

Dolphin posters and magic eye pictures!

Sorry I was a 90s teen.

In all seriousness, I think it's nice. Lots of interesting possibilities for nns and easy to spell correctly.

HelenaJustina · 01/08/2018 10:42

Heard my first one yesterday on a day out with DC, she must have been about 4. My first thought was ‘that’s unusual’ and second thought was ‘quite like it though’... don’t know any personally but it’s a yes from me!

StrawberryCat · 01/08/2018 10:39

Really really dislike it. Sorry!!

HesterShaw1 · 01/08/2018 10:39

Like it but prefer Athens

This made me really snigger :o
