Are these boys names too out there?

Here’s my current shortlist for DC3 (a boy). Would you know how to say these if you saw them written down, or spell them if you heard them? All opinions welcome, I’m not easily offended!

Alden
Ansel
Atticus
Augustus (Gus)
Orion
Orson

Drew for Andrew would be nice. Bit different. But then I suppose you may as well have Augustus/Gus.

@ThroughThickAndThin01 - the others on my list are a bit more sedate - Peter, Raymond and Andrew. I just wanted to sense check those that are a bit more “edgy” as I don’t think anyone would really take offence to these!

Good point about the likeliness of people assuming Orion is Ryan. I guess Ryan is an OK name too though if people do end up using that instead!

Agree Gus is not out there at all because of the Guses from Fergus, Angus, Augustus.

Orion would say either “yeah like the car” or “no, not Ryan”

Not keen on orson, Alden.

I quite like Atticus, I think it’s grown on me as it’s an mn favourite. But I wouldn’t use it as I’d be worried about Atti - Hattie with no H.

Any others on your list?

augustus is the best known out of them, followed by Atticus. Never heard of Alden. Although unusual, they’re not weird. Ie. Spelt how they sound.

If other dcs are George, Henry etc, they would be little out there. If dc1 and dc2 were Persophene and Hermoniane (sp?), then maybe not so.

My first two DC are girls and both have names from Greek mythology (one is also a car name if that gives you a clue, the other is a popular song by the Police). I’m not worried about the names all going in terms of origin/sound but I do like names that have a history and aren’t too commonly used at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback so far, I was half expecting a slating!

Orson is ok (as long as your surname isn't Cart or Field or Hay or anything else horsey Grin) and so is Gus. What about Fergus? Angus? Magnus? The others are a bit out there, Orion is a bit cringey I think.

Well Gus certainly isnt. Id do Fergus / Gus. I could see that but Orion is a car to 90% of people!
Alden sounds Girl to me
Ansel sounds like Answer
Atticus - sigh. Better be human rights activists with a love of American literature.

I've never heard of Alden, the others are ok. I know three Orson's. My favourite is Ansel.
