Is Emma old fashioned?

I really like Emma for a second baby (Not even conceived yet but day dreaming) I also like the NNs Em and Emmie. However is it a 90s? When I was growing up every class has 2 Emma’s but I haven’t heard it for new babies in ages!

I generally like classic names but I'm not keen on Emma. It just seems so dull.

There were 11 Emma’s in my year alone at big school (early 90s). And 13 Catherine’s of various spellings. I can’t get over that I’m afraid. It does strike a 90s-teenager chord. But I guess, of all the oft-used classics, it’s a nice one.

I'm an Emma born in the 70's. I hated it growing up as there were so many of us in my school and I wished I had been given a more interesting name. I toyed with changing it for a while, but I've grown to like it and feel that I wouldn't change it now. I get mostly called Em as a nickname, which I like, and at school I was Emu (Grin) but I've never been an Emmie.

Emilee is awful.
Emma is a classic name. DC2 is Emma. She was one of many in her age group, always Emma Surname apart from at home, but the name isn't as common now.
I think it's lovely and have no regrets. DC2 is happy with it.

I think its classic. Never really goes out of use although it does have moments of being more popular than it was.

It's a timeless classic. My great-grandmother's name, I love it. There is only one at my DD's primary school.

There are 2 Emma's in the class of 6 year olds that I teach, so very much still a popular (but not overly popular) name. It's a classic. Also in school are a couple of Emmie's.

My niece who is 8 is an Emma. Sister in law who is 25 is Emma. A friend of mine just had a baby girl and named her Emma. Its a lovely name!

Yes it is old fashioned. Not in the sense of Elsie or Mabel, but there are an abundance of women in their 40's called Emma.

Nice name though.

It's lovely, my all time favourite girls' name. If I'd had a DD, she'd have been Emma. I like that it's international, that it's short, neat and easy to spell, and that it's a really old name that goes back to the Middle Ages.

I think it's a classic name and not old fashioned. I like it; I do like names ending with an "a" sound. I know Emmas of various ages so wouldn't thinking it belonging to a particular decade.

No, it's classic.

One of my best friends is an Emma. She was born in the early 90s. I know Emmas younger and older than her, though.

I prefer Emmeline, though, to be honest.
