I love love love names that start with 'R' recently just come across rhea and love it ! (Ree-ah) what do you think?

Ria is OK. Rhea is not, for all the reasons above. My first thought was the bird.

I knew a Rhea in school and she never had any issues with name calling.

I am currently expecting a girl and she will be called Aria .. Ria for short.

But the bird was named after the Greek goddess - well, technically she was a Titan. Rhea was the main character in Butterflies, the sitcom. It's quite a normal name, I thought, though not common these days. I know two!

It's not the most attractive of birds to name your daughter after! How about a robin? they're much nicer!

Oh god, please don’t use Rhea as the spelling. As others have said a lot of people know that as an ostrich/emu. You will be ridiculed and so will your poor kid. Imagine the school trips to the zoo....

I know of a Ria. Nowt wrong with that.

I like it! Character from the Greek myths, mother of Zeus, etc, that's all I thought of. And it's a moon of Saturn as well. Not even the bird occurred to me, and definitely not gonorrhoea or diarrhoea which aren't even spelled the same.

Ria is lovely.
When I was little I wrote lots of stories where the protagonist (who definitely wasn't a prettier/more clever version of me) was called Ria. She was cool.

I know a Ria and "gonorrhea" never even crossed my mind. Didn't even know it was a bird either.

Ria still has the same sound though and kids might tease with it the same way. Would you consider other names from Greek mythology?
