Too old fashioned? Too different?

Our aim so far has been to find a 'classic, elegant, timeless' name. Rosalie is a family name which we hadn't thought of, but I've loved ever since it was suggested...

It's pretty. And a family connection is nice.

I think if I heard it without seeing it I might mistake it for two names - like Rosa-Leigh - probably because of the Gypsy Rose Lee association. So for that reason I prefer Rosaline or Rosalind.

It’s lovely, and yes very popular, but I don’t see what’s wrong with that. It’s a classic. I would pronounce it Rose-a-lee unless told otherwise

I personally prefer Rosa / Rose as a first name. But Rosalie is really lovely as well. :)

Friend with DD called Rosalie. I pronounce it Rose-a-lee but Scottish DH always pronounces it Roz-a-lee.

I'm Scottish and say Rose-a-lee so think it's just a personal thing rather than regional.

Flowerqueensw quite a few under the age of 5 round here. Its either Rosie, Rosa, or first name hyphenated with Rose or Mae/May. Probably the same as Evie was a few years ago.

I think it is lovely. I love all the "Rose" names.
I have only ever heard it pronounced Ros-a-lee, like Rosamund, Rosalind, etc.

It makes me think of a character from 'Grimm' - she's a nice vessen, though, so I'd definitely use the name Smile

I love it and am thinking of something similar. But, do people on this thread know a lot of little ones called Rosa? I was considering it as a nickname and I wasn’t aware it was so popular.

We used it as a middle name, we’ve had lots of compliments on it.

We use the ‘Rose-a-lee’ pronounciation.
