Put me off this name!

Fearne Cotton has a daughter called Honey.

I just find it really cloying and cliched.

If you really love it use it as a middle name or hyphenate it ie sarah-honey/ susannah-honey. I don't think its a "first" name. Think of her future university and job applications, whislt people shouldn't judge or discriminate, they do. My 2nd dd has a very very old english name, i had NEVER heard it before (until i found a 'celeb' with the same name urgh!) and the looks i get when people hear it can be awful. She is 7 now whilst she loves her name as it is unique i know she will be in for a life of funny looks and raised eyebrows.

I also had a hamster called Honey as a child. I think it's ridiculous, imagine being an adult and having to say that's your name, and no it isn't a nickname?

Oh please don’t. Lovely as a nickname but as an adult it would be hard to take seriously somehow. Having your name called out at an interview or appointment or the stick she would probably get at school if she didn’t fit her name in terms of appearance or personality. It sounds hookery. Your older girls have lovely name. Please don’t burden your next with this.

I rather like it, but as a nickname or short form. Or as a middle name. As pp have said, names like Melissa, Dulcie, Deborah all relate to honeybee or sweetness.

If you like Honey, go for it but in my humble opinion it's not in the same league as your older daughter's names.

I love it it too. It was the top of our list 💛 (got a new fave now, fx we'll get to use it one day!)

No for all the reasons above. Plus I know if someone on here put up a post saying they overheard their husband on the phone saying "hi honey", there would be at the very least suspicion if not jealous rage. I know I'd likely avoid calling Honey as much as possible in those situations if I were her boss, for example. Meaning poor Honey's career is stalled yet again...

It's hideous. And it breaches boundaries which are so important for children and young people. Everyone, whether friend or a perfect stranger or a teacher or a creep from work, calling her a term of intimate affection and endearment? No, no, no.

Dulcie is a beautiful name and really goes with your other dcs names. I don't think Honey is of the same name 'type' if that makes any sense at all!

From those suggested above Sadie would be great. I like Sidney.

There was a great thread on here a while back with a poster who wanted to give her daughter a ‘sweet’ name - candy floss or peppermint or something - because she looked so sweet and there were some great suggestions... will try and find it.

With a name like Honey I couldn't see her being a lawyer, doctor etc ... shop assistant or stripper!

Also with a name that Sounds too cutsie she'll end up with a 'proper name' that she'll make up so just give her a name instead

Honey is lovely, until about the age of 3. Then it's appalling.

Esme & Marnie are fantastic, cool but classic, names. They deserve a sister called something like
Laurel
Zoe
Imogen
Xanthe

I love Honey! I really wanted it for my DC but paired with our surname it was ridiculous. It reminds me off lovely Miss Honey off Matilda!

I think Esme and Marnie are both lovely. Classic but not too common- Honey isn’t really in the same ‘league’ IMO. I think of it as a pet name rather than a proper name.

I like the suggestion upthread for Alba. I recently met a gorgeous baby Alba. Heidi was also suggested, which is a great name.

I am going to propose Astrid, for no other reason than I just really like it.

I would assume a Honey's parents neglected to consider the fact that she will one day be older than 5.

I would hate to be a Honey as an adult. It's utterly unprofessional sounding, and I would be embarrassed to hear someone call out my name.

Think of the person she could be - strong, independent woman, and then think of the implications of being called Honey - porn start/pet name
To me it ranks alongside calling kids Angel and Princess, and Baby.

Honey is what you used to get called by any sleazy bloke trying it on in a club in the 90s.

I've reset my password just to be able to sign in and help save your lovely daughter from being christened this bland, trashy and infantile word. Word, not even a name.

The thing is, you can call her Honey or Pixie to your heart's content as a family nickname. Just choose a real name as well, as you have for her sisters. She'll still be sweet.

I love Marnie, but you can't have Marnie and Honey! (Also sounds a bit like honey and marmalade).... Use it as a mIddle name if you must!
