I've got 16 days left of my pregnancy and hate every name possible.
OHs grandad passed away just as I found out I was pregnant so would like to use his name some how, he was Ian but OH not keen for Iana and doesn't know how to say Ianina so doesn't like that either.
Help??

Honestly I don't think you should name her after the grandad. Just choose a name you like and go with that.

Is their not a female in your life that you love so much that you would love the name to if you don't like girls names? Or a favourite character from TVs or book etc? Or hours of looking thru name books or is there a boys name you like that could be unisex? There was a girl called stevie at my school it suited her

OK so his first two initials were IS. How about Isabel, or something else beginning with those two letters?

GKite · 21/07/2018 11:54

I'd prefer to have a name even if it wasn't definite as with my daughter I had to choose on the spot while in the registry office and I cried for days because I hated it
Middle name was Sweeny 😬

Did your partner’s grandad have a middle name?

Radom · 21/07/2018 11:49

Maybe just wait till she’s here as my sister had a name pick out my niece arrived and she decided it didn’t suit her and called her something completely different and with our youngest We really could decided between two names was when he was two days old till my husband said ok he’s the one name I was disappointed and realised I prefer the other name so went with that and the other name as a middle name.

It doesn't have to be related to ian, but those are the only two I liked
Sorry but don't like any of the above 😬

Ian is Scottish for John meaning Gift from God. You could use the other variations to honour him

John - English
Sean - Irish
Johan - middle European
Naathan - Indian
Darien - Greek

Girls

Dorathea - Greek

Could you tweak the spelling, to Yanina?

What about a name with ian in it?

Vivian?
Marian?
Lilian?

Radom · 21/07/2018 11:38

Iona maybe?
