We already have 4 girls - Honey, Indigo, Starling and Bluebell.

We're a bit stuck for another girls name.
The only one we both like is Aurora but we're not enamoured by it.
We'd love something sea or sailing themed but can't think of anything

If it's a boy our top 5 are

  • Eden
  • Clover
  • Apollo
  • Elm
  • Argyll

Clementine. Fabulous name.

Smoliver · 24/07/2018 10:44

I like Aurora, Eden and Elm from your list. Elmer might also be a nice option to give you the nickname Elm.

Girl:
Posey
Cherry
Emerald
Ember
Marina
Briar
Dahlia

Boy:
Beau
Griffin
Nile
Ash/Asher

Girl or Boy:
Brook
Wren
Fable

FartnissEverbeans · 23/07/2018 01:09

I love the suggestions of Tempest, Sailor and Calypso.

The Arabic name Mouna/Muna means 'water'.

I've also had a look at the names of the sea
nymphs (Naiads) in Greek myth: they have some awesome names, but I haven't had time to check all the stories!

Cleodora
Daphne
Lilaea
Lara
Memphis (didn't realise this was where the name came from!)
Liriope

Cornish names, because why not - all with sea connections:

Lamorna
Morvoren (means mermaid)

bridgetreilly · 22/07/2018 22:08

Quin actually could work, for either a boy or a girl, in this situation. Cute.

stompdino · 20/07/2018 19:55

Willow ?

Forest ?

ElsaMars · 20/07/2018 19:21

I may be crazy but I quite like 'Cloudy' 😣😁

MikeUniformMike · 20/07/2018 19:16

Morwenna probably means maiden.

MikeUniformMike · 20/07/2018 19:13

Finisterre?

MikeUniformMike · 20/07/2018 19:13

Tamar
Shannon
Bailey
Rockall
Mallin

itssquidstella · 20/07/2018 19:07

Atalanta is nice.

If you like weather names, how about Cleodie (I think it's Irish, I taught one who pronounced it "Cloudy")? It's really pretty.

daisypond · 20/07/2018 19:04

Atlanta (I know it's a town as well) but after the Atlantic.
Atalanta (from the Greek myths)
Mariana (as in the Mariana Trench, deepest part of the ocean)
Name of a river? Thames?

MariaMadita · 20/07/2018 18:25

Quinta is nice.

I also like Quentin.

QuinionsRainbow · 20/07/2018 15:34

Quinta = fifth?

CakeRattleandRoll · 20/07/2018 12:24

I think Zephyr could be used for a girl.

Morwenna means 'sea wave' in Cornish.

Argyll is my favourite of your boy names. Elm is OK, but might get converted to Elmo (as in little red monster from Sesame Street). Oakley would fit with your daughter's names.

MikeUniformMike · 20/07/2018 10:45

Starboard
Leeward
Jib
Keel
Spinnaker
Skipper
Sunsail
Pilot
Reef
Jack

fussychica · 20/07/2018 10:21

DS went to school with
Fathom
Storm
Sky Blue

Clover is NOT a boys name. 15 year old boys need a name which means they won't get bullied because of it. Bet your partner hasn't got a wacky name.

bridgetreilly · 20/07/2018 10:01

Honey, Indigo, Starling, Bluebell and...

Girls:
Thyme
Breeze

Boys:
Sinbad
Raleigh
Drake
Gull
Zephyr

thirdday · 20/07/2018 08:31

How about Hudson for a boy?
Iris would be nice for a girl.

MariaMadita · 20/07/2018 08:23

Aurora: very nice.
Eden: I like it.
Clover: for a boy?
Apollo: no.
Elm: maybe?
Argyll: interesting. Not my cup of tea but certainly not awful.

Suggestions:
Juno
Hero
Solana
Emerald
Coral
Farley
Clover (for a girl. Yes, it's a small steppable but it is also very cheerful)
Fern

Alder, Adler (eagle in German), Zephyr, Glenn, Leaf/Leif, Basil, Orion, Ellwood, Forrest, Green, Wolf(e), Well, Ilan, Florian, Garrick, Clay, Laurence (doesn't that mean laurel?), Dara/Darragh.

Marcipex · 20/07/2018 08:13

I like your girls names, but please don't call a boy Clover.

My suggestion for girl 5 is Halcyon.

HJL2506 · 20/07/2018 07:45

I actually think Sailor for a girl is lovely!!

RickOShay · 20/07/2018 07:21

I have always liked Orion for a boy. Also Thor, god of thunder.

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/07/2018 07:18

Unlike other posters i see Eden as unisex and actually prefer it for a boy

The less said about Clover for a boy the better.

I do think whilst it's great you want more hippy names for children, it's so much easier for girls to have these type of names than boys so please think carefully. He may grow up to be a confident man who really fits his name, but he may grow up awkward and shy and have a really hard time pulling it off and it could make the teenage years harder for him.

I really don't like Apollo or Argyll and would feel sorry for a boy lumbered with those names. Whilst I'm not a huge fan of Elm to at least seems less heavy and easier to pull off without uber confidence. Forrest has a similar feel

manicinsomniac · 20/07/2018 00:18

Do you not like Eden and Clover for girls too? Eden is unisex (though maybe more often used for girls?) and Clover is usually (always?) for girls so you could have that shortlist for both sexes.

I'm not sure how it's usually spelled, but in America there is a girls' name 'Sailor' which might fit the bill for you?

Ocean, Misty and River are good ideas too.

Not to do with water but I think these girls names go well with your other children:

Amberley, Atlanta, Briar, Blair, Cleo, Coco, Devon, Danika, Effie, Echo, Fallon, Fern, Giselle, Genesis, Hadley, Harper, Ivy, Iolanthe, Journey, Jessamy, Kiki, Keltie, Luna, Lyric, Mika, Meadow, Nyah, Neriah, Opal, Oakley, Piper, Pepper, Quinn, Quincy, Rosina, Rowena, Saffron, Story, Taryn, Tansy, Vashti, Veda, Willow, Wren, Xenia, Xanthe, Zeryn, Zillah

I like Eden and Apollo best from your boys' list.

Also, how about:
Blue, Brynn, Cole, Corey, Dexter, Ellis, Flynn, Harley, Hunter, Idris, Jolyon, Jesse, Kester, Kit, Logan, Merl, Nico, Orion, Orlando, Phoenix, Robin, Rowan, Solly, Sonny, Talon, Travis, Victor
