What do you think of this name?

I am expecting our second and I really like the name Percy. With my DS we didn't tell anyone the names we were thinking of (Arthur) and people seemed to accept it (though I was told later they were unsure when they first heard it).
I have been met with very odd facial expressions when I mention Percy. I thought it was cute! No one seems to like it and my DM says it's a nickname for a penis??!
What do you think?

I quite like Percy, makes me think of the lovely Percy the Park Keeper books.

I can't see how it's that different in sound to any of the Alfie/Charlie names that are so overused at the moment - and it's so much less common which is a real plus. I'd find it refreshing to have a child named Percy in my class.

Girl's name is Charlotte.

The trouble I have is that I work in a school. Every name seems to have an association for me.

Edward is on my list too. Trying to convince DH of that one. He likes Edward but not Eddie. Not sure how much you can control nicknames though

I would also have thought of the point Percy at the porcelain reference (but I have only heard this reading Bridget Jones' diary!) However I know of a recently born Percy and I actually think it won't raise that many eyebrows along with the Wilfs, Stanley's, Bertie's...

For the poster who said Stanley was not heard much - it is definitely name of the moment round here!

Gaius
Merlin

I think all of those are nicer than Percival.

I have an Edward and was thinking Oscar or Arthur when dd was born. Also like Louis and Theo. Frederick too (didn't go with our surname)

I like it. I think of Percy Thrower and Percy Byssche Shelley. A friend has just had a Stanley - she also has an Albert.

Our old French teacher was called Percy.

We said Merci Percy constantly. Poor man must have hated us.

Stanley is a cute name. and not one you hear much these days. In a way I am hoping we have a girl as that name is set in stone.

It was my gfs name and he was born in 1890 so v old fashioned but all I think now is pig, sorry

Hmm forgot about Percy Pigs.

Unfortunately I can.t go with it as DH hates it. I was just wondering if they were overreacting to it. I seems to be the general consensus however,

Patrick is nice if you like p names
Charlie or Samuel would go well with Arthur

I dont like it at all tbh. Immediate thought is Percy pig, and that he will be the butt of many future jokes BUT who cares, if you like it go with it.
