Thoughts on name daffodil

Ever since I was a little girl my favorite flowers were daffodils and I really like creative names so I was thinking the name daffodil for my new daughter. What are your honest thoughts? Is it to “out there”? Because daffie would be a really cute nickname but my sister and dad don’t like it that much. Opinions???

Did you mean to spell it Pheobe?

It’s probably not a great name choice if you can’t spell it correctly.

If you did mean to spell it that way, still not a great choice as the poor child will have a lifetime of having to explain/correct spelling and pronunciation.

I don't think Daffodil sounds like a name for a girl.

There are loads of better flower names like:

Rose
Marigold (Goldie for short)
Amaryllis (pronounced Amma-re-leeese)
Magnolia
Daisy
Violet
Dahlia
Jasmine
Poppy
Alyssa
Lilly

I recently met a Daphna. Not sure about Daffodil personally but I don't think unusual names necessarily hold people back in a business context as a PP suggested. I'd think 'Oh, that's unusual' the first time I heard it, but that'd be it.

I like Stella, Poppy, Phoebe.

If you like flower names, what about Honeysuckle? I know a Honeysuckle, known as Honey a lot of the time, and have always thought it’s a great name.

It should work, DAisy,Poppy and Rose etc, but Daffodil just sounds wrong as a name. But Daddy and Fully are both sweet as nicknames. What about Daphne?

Why don't you use Daffodil as a special family nickname, in the same way you would call your baby 'little bear', for example?

Stella is my favourite from that list. It's unusual but classic. Phoebe or Poppy are perfectly reasonable. The rest not so keen on.

however don't take mumsnet too seriously. I have seen some incredibly ugly/ridiculous names suggested on here. she's your baby; when she's born you will know what to call her x

Think very carefully about names, I was going to call my baby Indigo if she was a girl! I'm so glad I had a boy because I hate that name now! I think with new-age and very different names it's easy to change your mind at a later date - when it's too late 🙈 I do love flower names though and alternate names but just have to think of them as an adult, they need to be taken seriously.
I do like girls flower names how about these;
Iris
Daisy
Primrose
Blossom
Jasmine
Rose
Heather
Marigold
Poppy
Lilly
Dahlia,
Or maybe use one as a middle name?

Oh no, I'm really sorry, but that would be awful for the child to grow up with! A baby and toddler called Daffodil is cute, but a teenager or a working woman, no!!

Why not just use it at home as a pet name?

My DD is called Posey by me and DH and sometimes our families, but her real name is Emma!
