Thoughts on name daffodil

Ever since I was a little girl my favorite flowers were daffodils and I really like creative names so I was thinking the name daffodil for my new daughter. What are your honest thoughts? Is it to “out there”? Because daffie would be a really cute nickname but my sister and dad don’t like it that much. Opinions???

Agree with others - shortened to daffy equals daffy duck!!

Primrose, rosie, lily, even tulip at a stretch!! But please,
Not daffodil.

What about something relating to daffodils like 'summer' thats
A pretty name.

Hey moms! I’ve just decided to let everyone know that we have recently found out that we are actually having twin girls! Their names are going to be Stella-Marie Joyce Mitchell and Adelie-Blaise Kathaleen Mitchell! Thank you ladies for input on names and wish me and my wife luck with our girls! Kisses, Sarah-Grace❤️

To all those suggesting 'Dilly' as a shortening, a friends child is called this, except at school where they are forever being called "Dildo". They hate their name. As would daffodil.

I know an adult Daffodil.

I refer people to her through work on a semi regular basis and the number of clients who snigger a bit, raise their eyebrows or make some comment when they hear her name is shocking.

She may be blissfully unaware but I wouldn't do that to a child.

Amaryllis, Petunia, Eustacia? Opens up the options to; Amy, Mary, Nina, Stacey if Dd prefers as an adult.

For what it's worth I actually love the name Daffodil and don't see how it's any worse at all than Daisy, Poppy etc. At least people will know how to spell it 😁 or if you are unsure, give it as her middle name and then call her by it then when she's older she can always use her first name if she prefers.

My aunt is Daffodil and she seems to have survived to retirement age without an issue.

I think it's unusual but akin to all the other flower names so go for it!

Coco(short for Colette)--OK as long as Colette is the name on the BC

Poppy (short for Penelope)--Not my taste but OK

Pheobe--OK if it's spelt properly

Adalie--OK but people will muddle the spelling and pronunciation a lot.

Lol at you liking creative names,so you've come up with the name Daffodil.....I mean Daffodil,really? Listen, ever since I was a little girl my favourite chocolate bar has been a twirl bar and my favourite vegetable peas,yet funny enough not one of my children is called Twirl or Pea.If you love your child give her a proper name,it's the least she deserves isn't it?

Call your baby what you want. She won’t get bullied in school for her name as I have never known any child to be teased over an unusual name especially in this day. Secondly she won’t be taken less seriously in a business meeting I never meet a person and decide not to take them serious because of their name aslong as she’s intelligent and confident she will be fine. My baby has an unusual name and I named her that because I liked it not because I was desperately trying hard to be different why do people think this ??

I quite like it! To me, daffodils always signify the end of winter and the start of spring and new growth. They're bright and cheerful and colourful - what's not to like? Plus Dilly as a nickname is sweet. Flower names are in, and slightly 'cutesy' names are in, so I doubt it will sound too unusual in her peer group. I'd go for it!

Daphne nn Daffodil is gorgeous imo.
As for Daffodil... I initially disliked this name / thought it was just too silly.

But I think I may have changed my mind. It isn't my cup of tea (not my child so obviously doesn't matter...) and it certainly is unusal. But is it "worse" than Petal, Poppy, Bluebell or Posy?

Daffodil isn't offensive and definitely more interesting than yet an other Harper (or Darcy-Mae etc...)

(But I personally really dislike the previously suggested Narcissa. That's an imo potentially harmful name, tbh.)

What kinds of schools to your kids GO to? I have NEVER heard of anyone teased at school for having an unusual name and our kids have some pretty out there names.

Remember you're naming an adult not just a child.
