Would you think this is a boy or girl? I really like Jesse for a girl. Thoughts?

Hello, I am expecting my third son and am struggling with names. We already have Bobby and Billy. I don't mind whether it's another 'b' name or whether it ends in an 'eee' sound-just as long as its cute and goes well with his brothers name. So far we have Ralph/ralphie on the list and Bertie but we're not convinced.

Lookingforadvice123 · 24/07/2018 19:05

I love Jesse (it's a boy's name) and is on my list for a boy.

My sister is called Jessica though. I never call her Jessie, only Jessica or Jess. But my mum calls her Jessie. Can I still use Jesse if I have a boy? Surname's will be different.

sonnyboo · 24/07/2018 08:54

I'd spell it Jessie for a girl!

Treaclepie19 · 24/07/2018 08:47

Your question has already been answered but I love Jesse.

sonnyboo · 24/07/2018 08:12

Sorry the second one was meant to be Jessy

sonnyboo · 24/07/2018 08:11

When I hear Jessie/Jesse/Jesse, I'd think girl, but written down I realise that Jesse is a boy name. I'm not keen though

cheeseandstrawberryjam · 23/07/2018 21:18

My Sister is Jessie (Jessica) and I actually went to school with a Lad called Jesse 🌸
Hope this helps!

fearfultrill · 16/07/2018 19:19

I would think boy

Flamingosnbears · 14/07/2018 15:56

Boys name to me...

NoFucksImAQueen · 14/07/2018 15:48

As everyone else said no I is the boys version. It's actually a biblical name

Icklepup · 14/07/2018 15:03

Boy

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2018 19:03

Boy's name. Not keen.
I like Jess for a girl. Jessica, Jessamine or Jessamy are nice.
I'd go for Jessica nn Jessie.
You can't go wrong with it.

BoyInTheOven · 13/07/2018 18:20

I love Jesse as a boys name. I would expect a girl Jessie to have the the 'ie' ending

Mol1628 · 13/07/2018 17:56

Jesse for a boy. I know a few.

Glumglowworm · 13/07/2018 17:53

Jesse is a boy, Jessie is a girl

I’m not really a fan for a boy tbh, although I like Jessica for a girl

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 13/07/2018 17:47

Jesse is definitely a boys name. Jessie if it's a girl.

I really like Jesse but was vetoed by DH.

HJL2506 · 13/07/2018 14:06

Jesse without an "I" I would automatically think is a boy. Plus there's the actor Jesse Metcalfe.

I cannot stand this name on a boy, especially on a man!

(Although Jesse Metcalfe is a bit yummy)!

ladycarlotta · 13/07/2018 12:23

Traditionally in Scotland, Jessie is a nn for Janet. It was sometimes a stand-alone name in the C19th, and the name Jessica became mainstream because of the popularity of Jessie.

Jessica is just Shakespeare's version of a Hebrew name that is variously translated as Yiskah/Iesca/Jeska, in case you wanted options for a fn.

hadabaday · 13/07/2018 11:12

okay, thanks everyone Smile

I love Jesse - my great grandad’s name! Definitely a boy though

daisypond · 13/07/2018 10:54

As everyone else says, Jesse for a boy, Jessie (short for Jessica) for a girl.

AnotherChangeOfName · 13/07/2018 10:32

Jesse is a boys name. Jessie is a girls name. I know a 2 year old Jesse.

Lulubelle15 · 13/07/2018 10:31

I've got a Jesse, who's a boy. Jessie is the girls version.

KiplingAngelCake · 13/07/2018 10:28

Boy definitely (with that spelling).

LanguageAsAFlower · 13/07/2018 10:21

Jesse is most commonly used for a boy.
