We had decided on Sophie for a name and my OH has just told me it is an ex girlfriends name!!!! Wtf! He tried to justify it saying it was a daft under 16 relationship but I'm still raging!!

... practically though, Eilidh is much better than Sophie. Or is Sophia different enough?

How far did it go at that age really? Were they together for years, lived together, engaged etc? Of course bloody not. They probably snogged a few times behind the bike sheds ffs.

If you love the name that much this really shouldn’t matter. He basically once knew someone called Sophie, that’s it.

OP save this thread and come back to it when baby Sophie/Eilidh/Sophurious is a year old. It'll be good for a giggle with a cuppa and a biscuit.

I do think that you should give serious thought to Sophurious though.

I'm more annoyed that we have to change the name now as I think he mentioned it to someone and they made the comment about the ex and then came and told me about the comment which made me go into a hormal raging mess lol! Back to the drawing board! Just need to push for Eilidh now😂

Sofie then? Phoebe? (Sophie and Phoebe have always been similar in my mind).

One of my sons middle name is David. My first serious boyfriend at 17 is called David and I have dated another David. I've never made the connection as it's a lovely normal family name.

Sophie is a really popular name. It's not like it's Princess Consuela Bananahammock and he knew someone once with that exact name.

But the names of the actual Furies are quite beautiful. Tisiphone (avenger of murder), Megaera (the jealous) and Alecto (constant anger). All of those are cooler than Sophie.
