Does anyone have or know of a baby called Nancy? We love the name but people keep saying it’s “old”. Smile

I know a super cool 15 year old called Nancy. She's confident, clever and popular. It suits her perfectly.

She has a sister called Violet and and a brother called Edwin who are similarly fabulous.

@LadyCassandra we also like Florence 😍

I don't know any young Nancys. Not very keen personally as I think it's a bit twee and flouncy.

starkid · 10/07/2018 12:21

I know a 6-7 year old called Nancy, I think it's lovely

Roomba · 10/07/2018 11:34

I know an Agnes who has always been known as Nancy (she's now in her 60s). Is it an actual derivative then? I'd just assumed she didn't like her name so used something else, but now I realise I'm probably wrong!

I also know a Nancy who is 4. She's an awesome, feisty kid and her name really suits her.

One of my fav names. I just hope it doesn’t get too popular.

Pompom42 · 10/07/2018 07:42

I like it. I work with children and hand never had one there. An old school friend has a daughter named Nancy think she is around 17 now

JackietheBackie · 10/07/2018 07:40

Another Nancy fan. I know two socially (one is 50 and one mid 40s) and they are both great women. One of my cousins has a Nancy who is around 6 and she is a fab little girl. And I am a midwife (in a busy urban city) and have only met a couple of baby Nancy’s over the last 10 years.
It was on our list but my cousin had hers about 3 months before our daughter was born and I didn’t want her to think we were copying her. I love it - strong, easy to pronounce and spell, nit ubiquitous. Fab name.

MissTulipan · 10/07/2018 07:36

I really like the name Nancy, does it sound good with your surname?

Lotsofdigestives · 10/07/2018 07:34

Sounds like a shortening for another name I always think, like Betty or Elsie, but that’s trendy now. I also think of ‘Nancy boy’ or the unfortunate character from Oliver Twist.

PhilODox · 10/07/2018 07:34

I know two grownup Nancys, both of whom are supremely calm, collected, capable people that are really lovely. Both always go that extra mile to help or support people, and are just fantastic, reliable people.

Brendatheblender · 10/07/2018 07:31

I have 2 nieces called Nancy, ones two and the other is three. Beautiful name

BabloHoney · 10/07/2018 07:26

Nancy from Stranger Things is a cool character! It’s lovely and timeless

LadyCassandra · 10/07/2018 00:06

Its on our list for DC3 (who is stubbornly refusing to make an arrival despite being due a week ago). Along with Florence, Clara, Annabelle and Clementine (an outsider because DH doesn't like it).

Picknickers · 09/07/2018 23:49

My best friend has a Nancy (3) otherwise I would use it. It's beautiful

bridgetreilly · 09/07/2018 22:44

I love it. My gran was Anne known as Nancy. I think it's very cute for a little girl but also works for a grown up.

thismeansnothing · 09/07/2018 21:53

My DD is a Nancy. She's 6. Never really heard anyone else with it round here until recently. Another kid in her swimming class.

mayhew · 09/07/2018 20:33

Nancy Blackett from Swallows and Amazons was extremely cool.

SpectacularAardvark · 09/07/2018 20:27

Makes me think of Nancy Drew, she was cool.

Icklepup · 09/07/2018 20:00

I love it

PinguDance · 09/07/2018 19:59

The Dave Cameron connection is a bit make or break isn't it really.

Biscuitsneeded · 09/07/2018 19:57

I think it's lovely, but very hip. Be prepared for it to be not at all hip in 10 years' time...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/07/2018 19:52

I adore the name Nancy, but I don't know any.

ArtisanPopcorn · 09/07/2018 19:33

Getting popular very quickly!

ApolloandDaphne · 09/07/2018 19:00

My mum is called Nancy. She is 77 but i think it is a lovely name for a child. She is actually Agnes on her birth certificate but has gone by Nancy since the day she was born.
