Baby two due soon and DS is Fraser. Struggle with girls names. Can’t decide between hazel or Stella. Hubby isn’t too constructive. Any opinions??

Both are lovely names. Hazel is beautiful but more popular. Stella is very pretty and i don't associate it with the beer at all.

But.... i agree that Fraser and Hazel pretty much rhyme, which for me would put me off!

Other ideas....

Estella
Esther
Emery
Thea
Ruby
Verity

Estelle nn Stella
Hazel
Stella as a name on its own

pennycarbonara · 08/07/2018 23:01

Hazel.

I really like Stella as a name but I think it would be a pain being a teenager or twentysomething called Stella when most people's first association for the name is a very well known lager. Imagine the one liners you'd have to deal with from annoying lads. (I like the name because I knew a Stella who was lovely, and that was before the lager had become the big deal it is now so I associate it with her more than with drink. Of course, by the 2030s, Stella Artois may be as obscure as Skol is now, but can't be sure.)

Hazel, really don't like Stella, it just seems frumpy. Estelle or Estella are nicer imo but really just go with your heart - it's not our opinions that matter!

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 08/07/2018 22:36

Estelle is lovely, too.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 08/07/2018 22:36

Hazel is miles better than Stella, but it virtually rhymes with Fraser.

Esther? Rowan? Seren, if you have any Welsh connections (same meaning, I believe)?

MaryandMichael · 08/07/2018 22:33

Hazel. That was my mother's name.
Really.

lozengeoflove · 08/07/2018 22:32

Fraser and Hazel is far too similar. Hazel is fabulous, but not in that combo I’m afraid.

thisonebreath · 08/07/2018 22:32

I like both. We've got Estella on the list as DH didn't like the beer association with Stella.

Picknickers · 08/07/2018 22:25

Hazel is 100% prettier

NeedSomeTimeInTheSunshiiine · 08/07/2018 22:23

Both lovely, winner. I think I prefer Stella slightly.

AnyaMoondial · 08/07/2018 22:02

Hazel. Love it.

BikeRunSki · 08/07/2018 21:54

Stella is fabulous. String, snappy, unusual but not weird.
Hazel has always struck me as being a bit “meh”.

My niece is called Stella. The beer references dried up by the time she was about 2 weeks old.

madeyemoodysmum · 08/07/2018 21:52

Hazel

Stella is awful

GreenBudgie · 08/07/2018 21:51

Hazel :-).

notsolittlegrebe · 08/07/2018 21:50

Both really nice names.

Is she likely to have hazel eyes?

Fabricwitch · 08/07/2018 21:38

Hazel

Belindabauer · 08/07/2018 21:34

I've always liked Stella.

muffinthepuffin · 08/07/2018 21:34

Stella

FissionChips · 08/07/2018 21:33

Stella is a horrible name, just makes most people think of the lager (and the louts that drink it).

toomanyeastereggsurghh · 08/07/2018 21:30

Really don’t like Hazel but Stella is a great name. Doesn’t make me think of the beer at all.

Grammarist · 08/07/2018 21:27

Hazel is a lovely name. Stella reminds me of beer (sorry!!)

ErrantBakedBean · 08/07/2018 21:13

Personally, I think Fraser and Hazel sound too similar, and Stella is lovely so I'd go for that.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 08/07/2018 21:12

Artois?

Justfred · 08/07/2018 21:11
