Unusual but not weird names

Still searching for names. We would like something that isn't popular and unlikely to be in school with another. But nothing too weird that we spend the whole time telling people how to spell it/ pronounce it etc..

Elodie is one of those names that seem unusual but you will find more than one of in a school year.

I would look at either biblical names as they are pretty much always classy or names popular in the 40s & 50s that haven’t really come back round yet...
I know young women aged 19-22 called Kathleen, Deborah, Helen, Rosalind & Elaine
All lovely names & very unusual in their age groups ...

What about Judith, Margaret, Blanche, Angela, Andrea, Jill, Gillian, Faye, Alison, Elspeth, Imogen, Jayne, Pamela, Juliet/Julie, Cassandra, Jennifer, Claire, Joanne, Caroline, Frances, Christine, Belinda, Louise, Mary, Marie, Patricia

John, Richard, Ian, Stuart, Eric, David, Scott, Neil, Gregory, Malcolm, Adrian, Gary, Neil, Anthony,

My daughter is Tessa, it’s never been wildly popular but seems particularly underused among young children at the moment. But it’s also very straightforward, doesn’t raise any eyebrows etc. And pretty I like to think! Smile

Thank you TroysMammy! It's not that unusual. There was one at school and I know 2 others but one is spelt differently, and it's a form of a name that does crop up on here every now and then, and another form of the name crops up quite a lot. There is a well known actress with the name and a famous singer has it as her real name but she uses a stage name.
Strange that it isn't more popular really.

No-one ever mentions my name. There were more girls called Doris in the last few years than my name. No girls have been given my name and it sits at the bottom of the list Sad.

Most unusual girl's name I've heard recently is Sasanqua - it's a type of camelia.

The Old Testament is a good source of unusual but "known" names, or old Anglo-Saxon names, e.g. Godiva, Azeline, Alric, etc.

I can't tell you my DN's but it regularly comes up on here (Welsh name threads), and people love it or dislike it.
My friend's daughter is in her late 20s and is called Freya. Her brother has a quite ordinary 'dad' (think Alan, Mark, Graham, Neil, etc) name that really suits him.
