Changing a name because too many people spell it incorrectly?

He's 14 weeks now. Driving me slightly mad!!! Very rarely do people spell it correctly, even though it's the original spelling. It was super close between name 1 and name 2 anyway but ended up going with the one I had a slight preference to but name 2 wouldn't have the spelling issue...

People I've worked with for years still spell my name wrong.

I always say my name is “with an i e” so that people know how to end it properly. Don’t change it - people will learn

I had fun doing invites and trying to figure out if it was one or two T for a Elliot, luck has it he spelled it like your son, one T Wink but it is one of those things. People will learn and you will at times have to say Elliot with one T. Love the name btw.

DD’s father is Elliot with one T. It’s occasionally spelt with the double t but it’s easy enough to correct.

I also have a name spelt one way when lots of people spell it another. It annoyed my mother when I was little but it doesn’t really bother me.

Keep it it's lovely. Both DH and I have names with a few spelling options-so many names do. I know loads of Jennie/Jennys. Guaranteed, if you change it you'll suddenly notice a load of mis-spellings the other way.

Don't change it. As pp said some people would misspell Fred. I have a very simple phonetic first name and people get it wrong.
I would think Elliot would be the usual spelling but I do know an Elliott.

I personally wouldn't worry... is it not something you can get over? It doesn't really make any difference, it's still the same name sound wise.
My dd has a name with a silent T on the end, some people miss it off, initially I guess I was a bit 🙄 but at the end of the day there are bigger things to worry about.
I love the name Elliot, congratulations!

Just start saying "Elliott with a double t" when asked for his name. Lots of names have that issue like "Catherine with a C" "Elly with a y"

I have an uncommon but definitely heard of popular two syllabled 60s name and people balls that up. Moral: people will balls up ‘Fred’. You can’t win; stick with your fab name

My DD is Lily and I get "Lilly" and "Lillie" a lot. I just tell them thanks for the thought (if a card) but her name is spelt this way.

Keep it as it is. You can't do anything about some people. I have a Louis and his cards would say "Louie" and "Lewie" and "Looie" etc. You can't change his name (lovely name btw) just because some people can't spell it.

I wouldn't change it, especially if you've used the original spelling.

Loads of people need to spell out their names as a matter of course now because UK culture is so diverse. I need to spell my Scottish surname constantly and I get all sorts of weird variations. It's no big deal

Elliot

Usually gets Elliott (which for some reason is becoming more popular but Elliot is the original) if lucky get asked if it's with 1 t or 2.

Have also had Eliot and Eliott. Elliotte in one card! ConfusedConfused

Nearly EVERY name can be spelt 2 different ways. I thought I had picked a name that could only be spelt one way. I didn't realise there was an American way which seems to be becoming more prevalent here.
