Picked an unusual-ish name and now regret it, should I change her name?

Hi, really struggling here, so don't be too harsh. Tried talking to my mum about it and got "you had 9 months to name her, then a further few weeks" Confused I know that. I did spend ages and ages going through names, but there wasn't any that I absolutely fell in love with, the name I ended up going with cane to me from watching a horror TV series, which I'd never admit! Blush it's not unusual, unusual, but you don't hear it much now. It's in the 300ths for names, so it is known... I haven't had 1 positive response "oh" is my most common response, followed by "it doesn't matter what she's called, she's beautiful" to try and cover up the fact they hate it. I just seem to be regretting it a lot, the more and more I look at her, the less I like it and the more I start to think I can't have you with that name, etc.

It would be changed to Olivia.

I agree - keep her as Audrey - it's a lovely name, classic and yet still quite unusual. Olivia has been the #1 girls name in this country for several years running (plus I know an Olivia I can't stand!).

Be brave OP and ride out your worries. You've chosen a good-un!

Audrey is a lovely name, it's just not a 'baby' name - lots of names aren't, but she doesn't stay a baby for very long.

Audrey is absolutely lovely! Beautiful name, I was expecting something more harsh and frompy for some reason.

Audrey is fab! You should keep it - Olivia is very mainstream.

Audrey is beautiful, I would keep it. I think Olivia just came out top for the first half of the year again. For that reason alone I wouldn't pick it, Olive is cute though as another option.

Audrey is lovely, elegant and grown-up.

Olivia is nice enough but extremely common. It's the Sarah and Clare of this generation.

I think Audrey is one of those names that doesn’t “suit” a baby. By the time they become little people though they’ve grown into it. It’s probably because the name isn’t common amongst babies although it sounds like it’s growing in popularity.

You’re naming a child for life, not just their baby years. Audrey is a lovely name

I love "grown up" names for baby girls, as they then grow into names as they get older - think Vivienne, Barbara etc. and I'd include Audrey in this sort of name. For me, Olivia is more of a little girl name - DS is at school with Olivia, Lucy and Hattie etc. which to me are also little girl names. I'd stick with Audrey and it will suit her as she grows up.

Maybe have her named changed, but keep Audrey as part of it, then you can use either name and see what ends up suiting her best.

Nothing unusual about Audrey. It was number 27 in the charts in 2017 here in Australia.

Audrey is fab. Very granny chic and retro.
However if you do want to change her name and of course if your dp is on board
don't wait much longer to change it
Give it a few more months and she'll know her name

My neighbours 2 year old is called Audrey, they call her RayRay. Both are lovely.

I thought you were going to say Buffy. Even then all your family are being extremely rude bot to just accept her name.
Audrey is lovely and making a comeback at the moment.
Have confidence and develop a sneery raised eyebrow for the haters.

Audrey is one of my all time fave names!! (because of Little Shop of Horrors)

Please don't change it!

I am currently pregnant and haven't put this on my list but you've just reminded me and I'm adding it right now! it is such a beautiful name and I love Rey for short.
