How many Freddie's do you know and what ages are they?

I know two here where I am in Yorkshire, Freddie is their full name. The people saying "the nicknames won't suit them when they're older and have professional jobs".. times change. The world will be full of Freddies, Alfies, Archies, Charlies, Rosies etc.. it will be normal!

Yes very popular around here. I know 2 Fredericks called Freddie and 2 Freddies all under 3.

I seem to meet them everywhere - swimming, parks etc, but I have three kids under 8 and none of them are at school or nursery with any.

I have a Frederick (I wanted him to have a name he could use professionally) but he gets called Freddie. I call him Fred mostly.
I named him on a whim really as my and his dad couldn't find a name we both liked...
He eventually agreed
He's 4 and at the time I didn't know of any other Freddie's and I genuinely thought it would be a name that there's not many of.
Now I hear quite a few. Most are younger. One is the same age as him. None of them are Fredericks though...

My eldest DS is William (7) and he's the only one in his year group and I don't know any other Williams his sort of age either which I find surprising.

I know of 4 under 6 and this is just at DS primary or from nursery before that.

I like it though- far better nn for Alfred than Alfie which is awful.

I love Freddie.
I work in a large primary school and do not know a single child called Freddie. DP knows one who is late twenties.

I've never actually met a Freddie/Freddy. I am from Scotland though, so it will depend on where you live. Over here I don't think it's too common no.

I know of two who are under 3, they are both called Alfred but their nn is Freddie.

There's loads of Freddie's around. My friend is due in the next few weeks and has chosen Freddie for her DS.

I love it! I know 2; one in his 40s, another who is a toddler. The adult is Frederick and the toddler is Alfred. Couldn’t use it personally though as both are close relatives.

I’ve never met a single Freddie. Although I see it’s in the top 20.
I’ve not met any young Fred’s or Frederick’s either.

I wonder if it’s popularity is very regional?

Depends where you are I guess and whether popularity actually bothers you.

I have worked with children for 16 years, i have one child who's just left nursery and another who's just left primary and have only ever met 2 Freddie's here in NE Scotland!

It seems every second child here is called Matthew!

Every single baby boy I’ve heard of born this past year is a Fred, Frederick or Freddie. Seriously! And I know quite a few older ones too. It’s extremely popular round here.

There are 4 in my daughter's nursery aged 3/4 and I know 3 born in the last 2 years so I think it's very popular!
