Daniyal or Laidan?

Hello, our baby boy is half Moroccan/English.

The final 2 names we like are Daniyal and Laidan. Which do you prefer and why?

Not harsh at all, really struggling to pick.

I wanted Adam but it's been done to death on his side of the family (large).

I'm really not keen on Omar/Ali, etc.

Zac is currently 3rd in the line, but I was put off because it's a diminutive.

Neither. Daniel is better.

Laidan only because daniyal/ other variations are very very common choices for anglicised Muslim names. I'm just bored of that name. Along with Sara/ Zara/ amber/Amelia. Sorry, I know its a harsh response

With that spelling people are likely to assume you are bein ‘unique’ rather than honouring his cultural background.

Daniyel will mean a lifetime of "It's not spelt that way" "D-a-n-i-y-el - yes, that's right, it's D ..."

Laidan seems like a tweaked Aiden, are there other names that seem to be more established, iykwim?

I prefer Laidan.

I think Daniyal is likely to be misspelled (as Daniel) or mispronounced (as Denial).

Daniyal because although he will have to spell it out all his life at least he won’t have people saying “ what? Aiden? Jayden? Hayden?
They are both ok names but unfortunately not too usual here, no reason to just go for the same names as everyone else as long as you accept the fact that nobody will be able to spell it/will have heard of it
