Daniyal or Laidan?

Hello, our baby boy is half Moroccan/English.

The final 2 names we like are Daniyal and Laidan. Which do you prefer and why?

I'd go for zac, I would avoid Daniyal, he would spend his life spelling it out if he remained in the UK.

Zac. But if you anticipate spending most of his childhood years in the UK Id go for Daniel.

I'd it's double barrelled ianot quite long? Something short and sweet then (DS has a right mouthful for his full name and it won't fit on forms!)

His surname is both English and Moroccan as its double barrelled. We want a first name that works in both cultures. So I wouldn't pick Yassine for example as although it does work it definitely isn't seen as a known name, so that's why we are looking at names that are easy to say and also work in both.

Laiden has grown on me.

They are both fine.

Zac is one of my favourite names though.

Daniyal looks like you can’t spell or trying too hard-similar to my friend’s son Jhohnee. Zac is lovely and so is zachery. Don’t saddle your son with a name that will constantly cause comment, and not in a good way

We have Zacs, Adams and Samis in the family. All nice names.

Zak is lovely...if my dd had been a boy, I would have gone for Zak. I like Ali as well...out of Daniyal and Laiden, I'd go for Laiden as I think it will cause less confusion.

I wouldn't go for a first name and a surname that is Moroccan - reflect both his parents?I'm making assumptions that you/dad is English English).

Both sides of the family are important and to be honest, I'm sure he'd soon be fed up being asked where he comes from, how long he's been here, when did he arrive in the UK, where he learned English... (I see it a lot first hand - not people being nasty Hut still, it wears a bit thin).

Really can't give surname, it's double-barrelled (Moroccan/English) so quite identifying.

If we went for Zac, he'd just be Zac. There's a longer form for UK and a different longer form for Morocco, so I'd rather just Zac. We also considered Dan for that reason, but I hate just Dan, ditto Sam. Zac feels different.

I like Daniel - we chose a name that was pretty international (loads of variations of it!) so it's Fekketto VeryLongAndHardToSpellSurname - plus it was also my late dad's name so it ticked all the boxes.

Although he ended up with an other variation of his name to some relatives - Fek-koohhh.

Oh well...

DS is half Algerian and his name is Zakariah, Zak for short. I like Daniyal though.

In this country, Daniyal will look as though you don't know how to spell.

Zac is better imo. Would you use Zachary as a full name and Zac for short?

Dont really like either of them. With those names you'll never be able to pick up anything pre-named - cups, plates, wrist bands, sippy cups etc. I can get named stuff for dgs (with a classic name), but not dgd with an unusual one. Daniel or Aiden would be ok.
