Is Thomas boring?

Just that really. I've always like Thomas and i quite like Tom, though hate Tommy. But is Thomas boring?

DD has a rare name (given to 10 babies in total the year she was born) and I tend to prefer more uncommon names but keep coming back to Thomas

Yes a thousand times yes. I'm not sure what could be more boring than Thomas, other than maybe George, Oliver or Edward.

Not boring. Pretty timeless actually I think. Grows well with a child.

I have a dd with a more unusual name (although creeping up) and a ds called Thomas/Thom - never Tommy. I still like the name - solid, friendly feel, imo. Safe, even a little but boring - maybe, but there are worse things (and he has a more unusual middle name if he ever wants to go off-piste!)

I quite like Thomson/Thompson which ds has had as a nickname a few times which is a slightly more interesting option (He also had Thomsk, but I think that is probably only suitable for Wombles ;-)

I think Tom or Thomas is really nice. I don't think it matters if it's very commonly used - in fact I do know someone with a Tom and two other DSs whose names are far more unusual - they fit well together, and the Thomas kind of tempers the unusualness.

I have a Thomas, sometimes Tom, never Tommy. I think it's a classic boys name which will never go out of fashion. It is popular but mine has never had another one in his class so it's not been a problem.

Definitely safe but certainly benefits for going for a traditional name - won't date like many others!

My DS is a Thomas, it's a family name hence why we chose it, I haven't come across any others yet but he's only at nursery

It is very popular ime. I am a Cub leader. 30% of my Cubs are called Thomas! Obviously, this is for boys aged 8-10.

Mine both have similar names and I would chose Thomas.
Perhaps I wouldnt if I had an unusual name for the fiedt baby though. I would try and keep a similar vein.
