What are you thoughts? No Scandinavian links though apart from both of us being 10% genetically Scandinavian according to DNA test of that counts...

Go for Torin, the other sounds too much like Corbyn!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/07/2018 15:25

I like Torin. Tor is a cool nn.

Velvete · 24/07/2018 15:22

Not my cup of tea, but it's not offensive.

GreatDane10 · 24/07/2018 15:21

Actually the Danish Wayne or Kevin is...Wayne or Kevin! Or Liam

GreatDane10 · 24/07/2018 15:20

No it’s pretty neutral - just old-fashioned (but not in the ‘and therefore on trend again’ kind of way)

cholka · 24/07/2018 12:18

Oh, Jeremy Torben...

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2018 12:09

or Kevin?

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2018 12:09

Is it a Danish Darren or Wayne?

GreatDane10 · 24/07/2018 12:05

Torben is a well known name in Denmark so it's definitely not unusual or made up. It is, however, also typically the name of a 50ish year old person. I would not pick it for my baby son - it's one of those names that can never be a child's name to me, it will also sound like a grown man.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 24/07/2018 01:43

Sounds like what an Irish Sikh man would wear....

Sessy19 · 06/07/2018 20:59

@Abrahamkin Only useful as a comment if the OP is Danish? It’s relevence is probably more that it’s not common on the UK, whether it’s popular elsewhere is less important, no?

Abrahamkin · 06/07/2018 20:56

Well it's a Danish name and it's losing popularity there. If put the name in to see the Danish name statistics here you will see it has completely lost its popularity

Sessy19 · 06/07/2018 18:52

@AnnaMagnani And that would be an utter SACRILEGE, heaven forbid you LIKE your child’s name?!?! 😂

AnnaMagnani · 01/07/2018 09:33

I like it but would absolutely assume Scandi links and think he will have a lifetime of just saying you liked the name.

DeckSofa · 01/07/2018 00:26

I think "Corbyn" too. Torin is a nice idea.

helporange · 30/06/2018 23:30

I’m very sorry but when I say it out loud all I think is corben !!!!

newroundhere · 30/06/2018 23:22

Go for it OP! It's a great name not that I'm biased given DS is called Torben Grin

SeamusMacDubh · 30/06/2018 23:16

I don't mind it but it sounds a bit GOTesque

Picknickers · 30/06/2018 23:13

I like it too.

DramaAlpaca · 30/06/2018 23:07

I like it.

falaffels · 30/06/2018 22:59

I like Torbin, also Torin as mentioned by PP. Unusual, but don't sound it somehow.

It sounds like it could be English,so somehow doesn't seem weird that you don't have any Scandi links

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 30/06/2018 22:54

I prefer Thorsten

But I like this too

Joeybee · 30/06/2018 22:51

Don't like it at all. It sounds made up. It also sounds like a brand of paint or something. Plus it's not a familiar name in the UK do the child will constantly have to spell out his name to people.
There are some fantastic Scandi names out there, look for Scandinavian name lists, you'll probs find something similar but nicer sounding.

NancyFrank · 30/06/2018 21:24

I know two Torben's under 4 years old I do like it though

Bananalanacake · 30/06/2018 20:28
