Hi all,
After months and months (and months) of going backwards and forwards I'm still stuck between Barney and Casper.
If (and only if) you like the names, please could you let me know which you prefer.
I'm a bit in love with both names.
Thanks all Smile

My husband has Casper on his list before we knew we were having a girl. It was a no from me - our dog is called Casper.
I guess he thought it would be easier to only have one name to remember...

Cosmoa · 25/06/2018 22:58

Casper! But I know a guy called Barney and he's lovely and suits the name loads.

It's ridiculous how many rude people have commented after you asked people not to bother if they don't like their name!

Some people have nothing better to do than be rude unfortunately.

tinyme77 · 25/06/2018 22:51

Sorry this isn't helpful but isn't it Barney the dinosaur or casper the ghost? Therefore casper.

RedDwarves · 25/06/2018 22:48

Casper. It's lovely. Although I do prefer the spelling Caspar.

Not a fan of Barney at all. A Barney would get a hard time where I live.

desperatehousewife2 · 25/06/2018 22:16

Oh sorry, to the OP, if I had to pick I’d go for Casper but to be honest neither of those names is my cup of tea

I’m in Ireland and I don’t think I know anyone called Barney! It just reminds of Beany and Barney from the old Batchelors adverts!

soundsystem · 25/06/2018 22:08

I prefer Casper (I might be biased!)

Don't mind Barney, but it does sound like it should be short for something. Barnaby? I know a Barney in his early 30s who is quite cool, so definitely not just a little boy name.

grasspigeons · 25/06/2018 22:03

I prefer Casper

I like Barney short for Barnabas but not really as much on its own

spagfullofball · 25/06/2018 21:59

Casper definitely, was a close pick for my own son.

swimmerlab · 25/06/2018 21:56

I love Barney, I have one but it's my dog! I don't know any children called Barney but it is a very common dogs name. If that doesn't bother you then go for it.

Casper just reminds me of the friendly ghost.

Of the two, Casper.

strawberrypenguin · 25/06/2018 21:48

Barney - lovely name

EB123 · 25/06/2018 21:47

I have Barnaby but he is known as Barney, i love his name.

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 25/06/2018 21:44

Barney...... I've got one! Cracking name for all ages of man!

PinguPaws · 25/06/2018 21:36

Barney, a name that makes me smile. No pretence.

Discotits · 25/06/2018 21:33

I’m thinking of calling my son Jasper.

Discotits · 25/06/2018 21:33

Casper

OhTheRoses · 25/06/2018 21:31

Well as mothef to a something Caspar because he was born on Christmas day I think itnhas to be Barnaby or Barnabas, nn Barney.

Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar were the three wise men so on that basis Caspar isn't appropriate forba summer baby. Itbis however a marvellous name Wink

GreyGardens88 · 25/06/2018 21:30

I think they both sound like dogs names

TimesNewRoman · 25/06/2018 21:29

Casper is very cool! Cas for short. Love it.

BewareOfDragons · 25/06/2018 21:28

Neither.

Sorry. I think purple dinosaur or Barney Rubble (flinstones)

Casper the friendly ghost, cartoonish

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 25/06/2018 21:27

I'm trying to imagine a 50 year old plumber or solicitor or whatever called Barney, and I just can't.

Come to Ireland, we're inundated with middle-aged barneys

PixelAteMe · 25/06/2018 21:24

Barnaby

17caterpillars1mouse · 25/06/2018 21:22

Love Barney though I would prefer it as a nn for Barnabas or Barnaby.
